On 2005-03-15, Randy Harper rated this Integra 588QD 400 CC Driver a 4...(5189)

Purchase: I bought the Integra 588QD from an online vendor for $38. I found this club priced from $38 to about $75 online. I added an Aldila HM III graphite shaft for $14.50 and a Golf Pride grip for $5, both from Golfsmith. With shipping this entire club cost me about $85.00. My old driver is a Golfsmith XPC3 10.5 deg. driver. I wanted to try a larger volume driver head, hoping to find a larger volume sweet spot. I'm your basic weekend golfer with about a 16 - 18 handicap so I was looking for some forgiveness with a larger driver.
Pros: I haven't tried this club out on a course yet but I have tried it at a indoor range in my area. Nice range, with about 85 yards from the hitting area to the back of the dome. Plenty of area to see your basic ball flight. The assembled club feels very nice. The sweet spot on this driver feels absolutely huge compared to the 235cc driver I'd been using for the last 5 years. Even shots near the heel and toe still feel very solid and gives me a lot of confidence that I can strike the ball solid every shot and I haven't even started tinkering with the weights to shape my ball flight. Brand name or not, this club is a great bargain. This is the first "clone" type club I've put together. I've assembled several Golfsmith clubs in the past, including the graphite shafted 235cc driver I've been using in the past. This club was also pretty easy to assemble.
Cons: It does have that tinny "whack" that you hear with the thin faced, large volume drivers as well. It took me about 20 - 30 shots before I actually quit listening for that "whack" and just started to concentrate on swinging the club.
Quality: I don't know that there is anything really special about this club. I think it is well made enough to take advantage of the larger face and much larger sweet spot that comes with it. The construction seemed to very solid, no obvious defects and it assembled very well with the shaft I selected.

Review Summary: Definitely a bargain. Large volume performance for a great price.
