Purchase: I recently picked up the 10.5* soolong 450cc integra driver with a UST Proforce 65 Gold regular shaft on EBAY for $79. I have been behind the times as far as tiechnology is concerned so I decided to "upgrade" my golf bag with a new driver. Being left handed, it is difficult to find demo clubs at pro shops so finding a club of this caliber for such cheap money, it was worth the risk.
Pros: The first time I used this at the range, I noticed that I had the feeling that there was no way I could miss with a club this big. My first swing produced one of the longest drives I've ever hit. I normally drive the ball about 260 yards consistently with the occasional 280-300 yard blast. Almost every drive I hit with this club carried at least 260 yards before the roll. My guess is that I was averaging somewhere around 280 yards with a couple flying into the trees about 300 yards away. I switched back to my older titanium driver and immediatley noticed the difference. I am at least 30 yards longer with the integra driver. I guess technology actually works! The 10.5* loft is perfect for me because I am a low ball hitter. This helps me get the ball up quicker since the Proforce shaft has a high kick point that normally keeps the ball lower.
Cons: So far I haven't found anything about this club that I don't like. Even the obnoxious colors have grown on me. The one thing I have noticed is the shaft is very stif compred to my other clubs. All of my clubs except for the driver have stif shafts in them. Before I bough the club, I read reviews about the UST Proforce 65 gold shaft and everyone seemed to feel that they are much stiffer than the average shaft due to the "stiff tip" design. After a quick phone call to the great people at UST, they confirmed that the regular shaft acts more like a stif shaft. I gave them my specs and they recommended the regular shaft. Good thing I called because I would never be able to hit the stif version. (You must consistently swing over 100mph).
Quality: The guy I bought my club from on EBAY has done an exceptional job putting the component pieces together. With that said, this club feels and performs like (or better than) more expensive models on the market today.
Review Summary: Before you run out and spend $300-$400 for one of these oversized drivers, consider going the Integra route. You will get a driver that outperforms most other drivers on the market and is a fraction of the cost. True, you may not be able to find a demo to hit as I have never seen them in stores, but worst case scenario is that you spend $80 for a club that you don't like vs. $400 for a club that you will eventually not like! Either way, if you can't hit this club, you might want to consider giving up the game.
