On 2005-04-30, TxMike from Houston rated this Integra Sooo Long 450R - 6 degree driver a 5...(5462)

Purchase: I build my own clubs and experiment a lot. I bought this 6 degree head for $55 plus shipping from In Golf via the internet. Several mail-order houses sell the heads for $49 to $60, and some will sell the assembled driver for as little as around $70.
Pros: A 6-degree driver is radical for most of us amateurs, including me, a 60 year old with an 8 handicap who drives the ball about 250 yards. But I wanted to try one, and had an extra Penley Stiff Graphite Lite shaft around. I made it to 45.5 inches and it works even better than I expected. It goes noticeably lower than my 9 degree driver, seldom off line, gets good carry, but much more roll. On my home course after 3 rounds, I have hit my longest ever drives on 9 different holes. Plus the clubhead looks great!
Cons: There isn't really anything I don't like. The loft is accurate, exactly 6 degrees, but I wouldn't use it on a tight course where too much roll would get me in trouble. I'll keep my 9 degree driver for that.
Quality: The construction quality looks as good as any driver I've seen, at any price.

Review Summary: The Integra Sooo Long 450R driver is perhaps the best clubhead for the money, and comes in a variety of lofts from 4 degrees to, I believe, 14 degrees. A low-loft driver, like 4 degrees or 6 degrees, is cheap fun for those who enjoy experimenting. But these heads are so good, any loft would make a good driver, as long as it suits your game and swing.
