On 2003-09-09, Dom Barone rated this Killer Bee Stinger Titanium Driver a 5...(2261)

Purchase: I was looking to upgrade to a jumbo driver, but with kids in college, my budget is constrained. I purchased this Killer Bee Stinger driver and Killer Bee Bullwhip Regular spine shaft (unassembled) from Golf Smith for $64.50. After adding a Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip, ferrule and epoxy cement for assembly, the cost was just under $80.
Pros: This club has an extremely comfortable feel and cries out long drive. I initially thought the rather inexpensive shaft would handicap the driver but to my surprise, the shaft seems to match wonderfully with the head with flex just enough to impart stability and center hits with the club. I found that the 420cc head was very forgiving in that hits slightly off-center still travel a long distance and stay on the fairway. To my eyes, the club looks very sleek and rich. For the price, I can't think of a better larger head driver to buy.
Cons: Some people may find the rather loud "tink" at impact a bit annoying (one of my partners kidded me and said it had an illegal tone to it). However, it is a conforming driver and the impact sound tends to grow on you. In fact the noise is particulary good feedback when you make a good hit. I think that some of my competitors in match play in my golf league find the noise a little intimidating, particulary when the drive is good - so be it, I'll take every mental edge I can get.
Quality: I found the head to be of high quality in both appearance and performance. I have used it a lot this year without any indications of wear or diminishing performance. For the price, I found it to be a great quality bargain.

Review Summary: If you are looking to get into a larger size titanium driver for under $100, this is the club to get. My golf partner bought the larger Nicklaus Air Max driver this year and I have found my Killer Bee to perform every bit as well as his more expensive Air Max. The $64.50 club plus shaft offering from Golf Smith is too good to pass up and I highly recommend it.
