On 2004-12-21, Mack Payson rated this Knight EZROLL ZR5 a 5...(4872)

Purchase: I'm new to the game and bought a beginner's set at a local sporting goods store. Most of those clubs will suit me until I improve to a quasi-respectable degree. I wanted a putter with a little more character than the one included in the set but I wasn't about to dish out $80-100 for a club when I still top-off half my shots! I thought I'd give the Knight putter a try ($19.96 @ WalMart) since I already spiced up my set with one of their drivers which I like very much.
Pros: The EZROLL ZR5 is perfect for me and probably would be for most beginners. It carries enough weight at the head to move the ball 50-60 feet when I need to but also is not so heavy that I can't control it when I need to sink a three footer. The sweet spot is forgivingly large and even when I heel or toe the ball I don't embarrass myself too terribly. I like the 2-bend shaft because it allows me a full view of the alignment marks on the head and lets me keep the head parallel to the putting surface.
Cons: As with most of the Knight clubs I've purchased and looked at the grip is light-duty but not unacceptable. I consider that a minor flaw. I'll replace it with a Golf Pride Tour Wrap at my local shop when I have a chance.
Quality: It is excellently and solidly constructed. I've used it about three months and it looks as good today as it did when I purchased it. There's not an imperfection to it that I can determine.

Review Summary: Overall I am very pleased with this putter and recommend it to anyone (especially beginners) who would like to sample something different from what they're used to. The Knight brand seems to be a quality source of clubs for those of us still learning the basics who also don't want to break the bank...at least until we can justify it!
