On 2004-10-13, Paul Taylor rated this MacGregor 1025M a 5...(4597)
Purchase: 3-pw on ebay for $380.00. I about fainted. I had very little hope of being the high bidder on these irons. I have never seen them retail for under $899.00
Pros: Considering the Titleists I had been playing were rusty and over 20 years old, these things felt like gold. The feeling is what I'm really after in my equipment, from drivers to balls when I'm putting, I'm a feel player, and my oh my what a feeling the 1025m's have. I still say Macgregor is the greatest name in golf.
Cons: The high polish of the chrome will blind you, although I'm sure that will dull as time and rounds pass. I summarize my feelings about my new clubs this way: They are so beautifully balanced and well-constructed it feels as though they almost swing themselves. It's unfortunate they don't AIM themselves. And I know that this is coincidence, but the 2nd round played, I hit the pin on a 200 yard par 3 with my 4 iron. Into a slight breeze. It was magic. YES! I made the putt.
Quality: Unequalled. Macgregor has put their collective hearts and souls into producing the finest iron they can, and keeping with the heritage of the brand, they are simply beutiful to look at. Here's what your 15 handicapper doesn't know. Because of the quality of contruction and the advances in research and design, they do NOT have a low playability factor. They are much easier to hit than any Mizuno or TaylorMade blade!
Review Summary: the most beautiful, confidence-inspiring, buttery-feeling, pin-hitting club ever. they are a gift from Macgregor.
