On 2004-03-01, Charlie C rated this MacGregor Forged PCB Tour a 5...(2972)

Purchase: Bought on Ebay for $195.00 I wanted to upgrade to a more compact, forged head iron with minimal offset. I looked at Hogans, several sets from Mizuno, Tour Cavities from Golfsmith, and the Adams GT series. I found the best price for the quality with the PCBs so opted for them.
Pros: First, they are beautiful. They are right up there with the Hogans in terms of the finish and design of the cavity and logo. Very graceful and classic looking. I never really liked the look of oversized irons at address. They swing much lighter than the slightly oversized, progressive offset irons I was playing. This took some time to get used to but with practice I've found that my swing speed has increased, giving me more height and distance witht the short irons. I am hitting rockets with the 8 and 9 irons especially. The smaller head also picks the ball cleanly from the rough. These things spin the heck out of the ball. I had a downhill 5 iron shot from 200 yards back up about 5 feet in my first round with them. With the short irons it's not a matter of whether you can spin the ball. In some instances you could find yourself trying to limit spin.
Cons: I like everything.
Quality: Mine have Dynamic Gold S300 shafts and Gold Pride Velvet wraps. The quality is perfect. They are obviously used and came with a few nicks on the soles. The head material is very soft and will get marked up from clanging around in the bag.

Review Summary: These are beautiful, sweet feeling and long hitting irons. They are not very forgiving and are designed for mid to low handicap players. I would recommend them to anyone who wants improved feel, workability and spin from their irons. I also recommend them to anyone who wants to challenge themselves to improve their ball striking.

Went to the range yesterday to practice. Took the new 9.5* driver to test it out. I hit it a lot better than I figured I would with that factory insta
