Purchase: E-bay $275 Pros: These are magnificent irons. I play off a 12 handicap, just switched from Adams GT irons. At first the chunky topline and protruding V-Foil are off putting, but you soon get used to it. These irons hit nothing but straight high balls. The only thing you have to think about is keeping your head down and behind the ball at impact a decent result is all but assured by this club. I am hitting it a full club longer than with the Adams or my old set of Ping Eye2's.
Cons: I have not gotten used to chipping with these shovels yet. Quality: Very, very solid. Review Summary: No better club for anyone with a double digit handicap

Purchase: After hitting a m455 6 iron at a local driving range i fell in love with the clubs. I was hitting the 6 iron about 175 into the wind that was playing about 190 on the green at the range.I had ping i3+ irons and I liked them but not even close to the m455. The funny thing is I was not in the market to buy new irons but I traded in the pings and paid 250$. Pros: The feel the look the performance and very forgiving for forged irons. Cons: If anything the grips could be softer but no big deal. Quality: The look may not be for everyone they are rather big looking ( just hit them ) and you will love them. Review Summary: I have hit alot of irons and this are the whole package On 2004-06-15, Mike Capozzi rated this MacGregor M455 a 5...(3768)
Purchase: Purchased at Golf Galaxy. Slighty used (impact scuffs on some of the soles). Traded in week old Callaway X-14s for the MacGregors (actual cost was $449.00 used). I bought these three days after hitting a demo club at a driving range. I had just bought the X-14s and played them twice (and hated their hard and heavy feel). The day after I bought the MacGregors, I shot the best round of my life (81, 10 over par, 7 strokes better than by personal best). It took me nine holes to learn how to hit them, then I shot +2 on the back nine. Pros: These irons are the best I've ever played. Some of the irons I've played in the past are Callaway X-14s, Ben Hogan Apex Musclebacks, Ping i3s, and TaylorMade burners. The V455s are extremely easy to hit and produce consistent distance and direction. The 455s are easy to hit out of the rough and they produce a high trajectory without losing distance (8 iron goes about 160 yards, and lands very soft). Cons: Nothing except that the stock grips are fairly coarse. Not as coarse as the X-14s, but I prefer something a bit softer. Quality: The finish on these clubs is excellent, as sharp looking as my Hogans. Review Summary: These clubs are the best, period.
