On 2005-07-02, Double Gee rated this MacGregor M565 V-Foil Speed Graphite Irons a 5...(5792)
Purchase: EBay £250.
Pros: Having been using Callaway X14 and then the disappointing X16s for some while, I recently switched to the Mizuno MX-23.
Unfortunately, I found them no-where near as good as I had hoped for...in fact they were very disheartening in their lack of performance.
By chance, I read the reviews on here of the M565 and thought to take a better look.THIS WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE REGARDING IRONS.
From 3-6 Iron they have a C.O.R legal face for massive length and 7-PW has soft carbon forged steel, for feel and touch.
I bought myself a set in Regular Graphite and the rest is history; longer...far longer...massively longer than the MX-23s; very very straight and on mis-hits, there is no apparent loss of power.
The original 455 clubs were way to 'clunky' looking, but this brilliant club is just right.
I play off of 12 handicap and on the evidence of the few rounds I have played with them, I fully expect to be off 'single figures' in the very near future.
When over the ball, these clubs remind me of the X18 Tour or Pro series.. but having had several Callaway sets, I honestly feel these perform 20% better than Callaways.
Tonight, I practised with my Uncle (a 62y.o and very steady 14 handicap) He has just purchased a set of Nike Irons. After a dozen hits with my 'Babies', he is going to chop in his new clubs and going to get a set of Macs 565 tomorrow.
He was immediately able to hit a 7 iron with mine, when a 6 or 5 was the Nike club choice.
IF YOU ARE A GOOD PLAYER (6 TO 16 HANDICAP) AND LOOKING TO IMPROVE YOUR LENGTH AND QUALITY OF GOLF...BUY SOME M565s AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - HONESTLY, YOU WILL THANK ME FOR WRITING THIS REVIEW.
