Purchase: Bought new from Custom Edge Golf on ebay for $281.00
Pros: Forged irons, perimeter weighted, multi-metal carbon steel, rifle flighted shafts, Golf Pride new decade multi compound grips.
Cons: Nothing
Quality: The M685s use two kinds of carbon steel within the set. For 3-6 irons, 4140 carbon steel is used to optimize the hollow body structure for easy high launch and maximum distance. In the 7-PW, a softer 1025 'low-carbon steel' is used in a solid one-piece construction for superb feel and tremendous shot-shaping capabilities

Review Summary: Macgregor did not cut any corners with these irons, from the use of different carbon steel in the long irons vs. the short irons, to the precision rifle flighted lite shafts to the New Decade grips. I checked the total weight, length, loft and lie and they are right on the factory specs. I wanted a forged set of irons with rifle shafts, with a mediun top line and a classic look at address. You should check these out if you want the forgiveness of the most modern technologies but can totally appreciate the pure feel of a forged iron.
