On 2004-12-14, Harold Kellermier rated this MacGregor V Foil 455 Irons a 5...(4848)

Purchase: From Edwin Watts golf, I was looking for an oversized iron that would help me get some distance and be easy to hit. Trade in 400.00 dollars.
Pros: The best thing about the clubs is the look, for me the weekend duffer having a club that looks like it will knock the snot out of a ball really helps when you have one of those shots over the water or a bunker guarded green. The head of the club is just beautiful, while being large it is very graceful looking, the rounded bottom keeps you from chunking shots.I had several utility clubs because I could not hit a 3 iron, well the first time I took these clubs out I took out the utility clubs and used just this set, much to my pleasant surprise the 3 iron was as easy to hit as the 9 iron. The ball gets airborne and flies nice and straight. I have a slow swing speed and also seem to be 2-3 clubs higher on shots that my buddies hit from the same distance, but for me these clubs equal that out. For the golfer who just really wants to have a good time golfing and enjoys the company of friends and wants to lower their scores, get to your local dealer and try a set of these things you will be glad that you did.
Cons: That I didn't buy them sooner.
Quality: Really these are just beautiful clubs, from the forged head to the graphite shaft to the grips, elegant yet very inviting. I guess you would sum them up as saying they are eye candy.

Review Summary: The bottom line is Macgregor has done a great job of combining looks, style and function. I could not think of any reason why anyone who wants to get better and enjoy the game more would not buy a set.
