On 2004-08-18, TR rated this Maltby Logic Tradition (350 cc) a 4...(4070)

Purchase: I purchased the components for the Logic Tradition driver (10 degree) through http://www.golfworks.com with a True Temper EI-70 II stiff flex shaft and a Winn grip. I was actually just looking for deals on shafts because mine were too "whippy," but the head was on sale for $60 down from $100. I had the club assembled locally because to get it pre-assembled would have cost twice as much. I wound up spending about $125 for the whole deal.
Pros: I enjoy the sold THWAK this club makes. Maltby modeled it after the Persimmon club heads and it sounds very similar. That sound, plus the weight of the club and the response in my hands makes solid and controlled contact a breeze. I have always been long off the tee (240+ with a 3 Wood), so any added distance hasn't really impressed me. However, I started having control problems about two months ago and figured out that my natural swing was in fact overswinging my old 3 Wood with a regular flex shaft. The first time I played this club, I dropped 10 strokes from my season average to my second best score ever: 86. I attribute it mostly to the control this club provides off the tee.
Cons: This is a deep faced club design, and while it is small by today's standards (only 350 cc) I believe I would still prefer a lower profile. Also, off center hits in the hozel are reduced in distance more than most drivers I've hit.
Quality: This is a beatiful club! There is a dark cherry finish that look brilliant in the sunlight. It is very easy to square, and the craftsmanship appears excellent. It has a DAT 51 titanium face and sole, and though I have no idea what DAT 51 is or means, the head is made very well. Like I said, I had it assembled locally, so I trust the work on that end, but the club head itself is just spectacular.

Review Summary: I would recommend this club to anyone seeking more control, and possibly more distance, off the tee. Hitting fairways will improve your game, and the only way to do that is to find a club that you can swing easy. This club swings very easy! For the price, the quality and performance of this club are unmatched. The performance for me is on par with a Callaway Hawkeye or a Cleveland Launcher 400. I have also ordered the 3 and the 5 woods in this series and can't wait to get on the course with them.

Went to the range yesterday to practice. Took the new 9.5* driver to test it out. I hit it a lot better than I figured I would with that factory insta
