On 2005-06-02, Knurrick rated this Maltby Treme MOI Heel Shafted Mallet a 3...(5599)

Purchase: Purchased the heads over the internet directly from golfworks.com. for $59,95. Purchased all 4 models available. As I am a clubmaker I had all shafts grips and other supplies and tools available.
Pros: The finish is superb, and I especially like the face finish.
Cons: All the heads look a bit knotted. The colours are black and shiny white, and looked attractive by first sight.
Quality: The sun reflecting from the white oval is very distracting, and makes it difficult to aim properly. Seems like Maltby haven't thought this through. My friends who tired the putters had the same opinion. The all black blade putter (model 02) didn't have this problem, but wasn't face-balanced and felt weird.

Review Summary: As for the model 02 blade putter, it ended with me pulling the hosel, drilling the hole bigger and I mounted a double bend shaft directly in the blade to make the putter face-balanced. Then it became very stable and easy to use. The 400 gr long putter had way to flat lie, so I had to modify the hole to rise the shaft to 79 degrees. Then this putter became the best of the bunch, and stays permanently in my bag. The heel shafted and center shafted mallet models are to heavy at the back, and I cannot relax in my arms while adressing. I have given them away to a couple of riends that liked the look of them, but they are not using it anymore. Unfortuenately this is the latest dissapointment of many clubs coming from Golfworks. It is possible to find cheap nameless clones that outperform the Maltby-clups in all categories, and especially drivers and fairwaywoods.
