Details: plain old fashioned white balls
Purchase: I got a dozen while stuck in Walmart one day. Were on sale for $5 a box, only had one box left. Pros: Pretty good ball, and it's a 3 piece ball, so that's a plus. Good distance and fairly soft feel. Decent spin for a non tour ball. Played 18 holes with one ball and it still looks very good, only minor scrape or two. Cons: My biggest complaint is Walmart only had the one box. Quality: Quality seems to be very good. It held up for 18 holes and very ready for more. Review Summary: This ball was selling for $20 before it went on sale, and that's about right. In the $20 price range, this is a very good ball, well worth a look. Not as much spin as a true tour quality ball, but it's not $40 or more a dozen, so you can't complain. I'd recommend the Fire to any golfer looking to move up from a 2 piece ball and not quite ready for the $40 to $48 box of balls just yet.

Details: mid-level, 3 piece, surlyn cover. Small flame above the name and longer flame on the pole.
Purchase: I found these at Wal-mart for $15 a dozen. I had been wanting to try them and at that price I had to. Pros: It's a 3 piece ball at a 2 piece price. I was concerned how it would do in windy conditions being marketed as a high launch ball, but its actually performs very well in the wind. Long off the tee and plenty of bite on the green, I even backed up my 8 iron from the rough. Cons: It's all good. Didn't care much for the flame on the side at first, but I've gotten used to it. Quality: Excellent. I've played almost all the other mid-levels (i.e. Ignite, Hot, NXT tour)and this one has impressed me the most. I did not expect the Fire to be as good the Ignite, but actually it's just as long and better into the green. Review Summary: Don't get me wrong there are better balls out there (Pro v1x, Hx tour, B330, U-tri tour), but not for the price. As far a mid-level balls this one is the best. Purchase: I have purchased three boxes of these balls from various retailers for around $20/box. I am sucker for trying new golf products. Pros: I liked the fact they are reasonably priced most of all. After trying my first sleeve of balls I have found a new product that lived up to its advertising. The ball flies long and true both in calm conditions and windy ones as well. The feel of the ball off my irons is very impressive to the response I get when the ball hits the ground. There are numerous aids on the ball to help you line up your putts. Small and subtle, nothing that distracts your eye while trying to line up a ten footer. The ball is also very durable and does not scuff easily. Cons: Nothing. Quality: This is a high quality, durable, straight flying ball the average working person can afford, and be proud to play. Review Summary: I would and have recommended this ball to everyone I play golf with. For the price and the results you get it's a 'no-brainer!' I think after playing these balls people will agree with me in saying this is an absolute gem for the mid to high handicap golfer who needs a little more distance and added control off the tee; and not sacrificing feel and green response. Try these balls and set the course and your scorecard on fire! On 2007-02-05, Hammer rated this Maxfli Fire a 5...(7614)
Purchase: I bought 2 sleeves of these at a big golf superstore in southern California. I bought them because, with my increased play and improved scoring, I have been trying lots of the mid-level balls to find one that gives me some distance, but isn't a rock. I've been wanting to move on from the Top Flites and find something with similar distance and way better feel. So I've tried them all. (Berthas, AD333, Hogan Hawk, HX Hot, Loco, Mojo, Noodle, e5, e6, Ignite, NXT and NXT Tour, Pinnacle Exception) I paid $4.99 per sleeve. They're $19.99/dozen at the same store. Pros: I like it a lot, and I like a lot about it. But let's cut to the chase...It is the longest golf ball I've ever hit. Period. I've enjoyed trying all these different balls, 2-piece and 3-piece. Some were softer and some harder, but none longer. It flies 10-20 percent farther than I'm used to. I have now played a couple rounds with it, and on both occasions I have hit shots with what turned out to be too much club, that I'd never hit that far. One example: My 3-iron-hybrid club. Normally I hit it 180 on a good one. On a short par four (with the roll) it was sitting there at 205 yards! It CARRIED 180+. It flies off the club face. Ususally with a ball that jumps like that, it's too jumpy. This one feels good on all the different shots. It will stick and hold on a green. You may not back it up 20 feet, but if that's your game, you're playing a more spin-friendly ball anyway.
I like the price (2-piece distance ball pricing) for a 3-piece ball. The flame on the side is a great alignment aid for putts. It is durable as hell too. Cons: Can't complain. If I had to come up with something...Other three-piece balls are less jumpy off the putter. It's not a 'Rock Flite' or Pinnacle, but there are softer 3-piece balls for putting, in the same category of balls. It is NOT bad, just a little hotter off the face. It beats a lot of balls off the putter, just not ALL of them in the 3-piece world. Quality: First-rate ball. Bright white, with black lettering and orange trim. It is well-built. It's hard to scuff for a ball this soft. I am really impressed. Sounds good off the clubs too. Review Summary: I am into the mid-priced, 3-piece balls and this one is good. It's longer than everything I've tried; to the extent that it surprised me repeatedly.

Went to the range yesterday to practice. Took the new 9.5* driver to test it out. I hit it a lot better than I figured I would with that factory insta
