On 2005-10-15, hmk rated this Medicus Driver a 1...(6311)

Purchase: Purchased at internet site, (medicus.com), to perfect my full swing, paid $178
Pros: It delivers on what it is designed to do; teach and reinforce, through very strong feedback, the proper full golf swing.
Cons: I recommend no one buy (or try!) this product for 2 reasons: 1) A product which is virtually identical to the Medicus driver (Refiner Driver) sells for $90 compared to about $150 for the Medicus. 2) The company who owns the product (at medicus.com) is extremely dishonest. If you go to their site, you will notice, in big green letters, an offer to try the Medicus for $1 for 30 days. A little below this offer you will notice not one but two seperate statements offering FREE shipping. After you fill out the first page of the $1-offer-form then click on CONTINUE, you will come to the final page. Notice how the first line (in small print) has a default check mark requesting to pay $18 for RUSH delivery. This is deceptive. They have already planted the thought in your head that you will be recieving FREE shipping then attempt to sneak in (in small print) an unrequested shipping fee while your guard is down. Well they fooled me because I did not notice it and my friends will tell you how paranoid I am (especially of internet fraud). To complete the deception, you never see a TOTAL COST screen. If I had seen a TOTAL COST screen, then I would have gone back to the home page and 2nd page to search out and correct any mistakes (hidden costs). I only discovered the rip off because I read the confirmation-e-mail that usually follows an internet order. Not only was I surprised to see that I was charged $18 for shipping; I was also charged $160 for the full cost of the Medicus Driver!!! I thought," that is strange, didn't I just pay $1 to try the Medicus for 30 days while receiving free shipping." This order was placed around 2 a.m. (while no one was answering the phones at Medicus) so I could not correct the mistake immediately. I contacted Medicus at 8 a.m. the following morning (when they claim to open up for business) to try to correct the mistake. The woman who answered the phone refused to correct the mistake. She lied by saying that the order was already shipped out because she is located in the midwest where it is 10 a.m. not in the west where of course it is 8 a.m. Their internet site and all paperwork associated with Medicus only mentions California addresses for both paying and contacting them. Never is the midwest ever mentioned. I put a STOP PAYMENT ON both the Medicus and shipping fee. P.S. if anyone doubts my sincerity, just go to their internet site (medicus.com) and test out the $1-for-30-days ordering procedure. If you are extremely cautious, and since you have been warned by me, then you will probably execute a desirable simulated order. I estimate that if you use a test subject who is not warned about the deceptive tactics, there is a 50% chance that they will suffer a simulated overcharged by Medicus. Just be sure to not fill in the credit card information or else a simulated order will turn into an actual overcharge
Quality: seems like good quality construction to me.

Review Summary: My philosophy is, no matter how good a product is, do not buy it if the people behind the product are dishonest. I'll assume that the inventor and golf pros who endorse the Medicus are honest but the sales people and customer service people are certainly scoundrels. Add to this that a near identical product (at refinergolf.com) is selling for about $90 vs. $160 for the Medicus; you got a no brainer.
