On 2006-04-11, Will break 70 before I turn 70. rated this Medicus 5 Iron Dual Hinge a 4...(6787)

Details: off the shelf right-handed model

Purchase: Bought this at local golfsmith store brand new, but I would recommend purchasing on ebay. Could probably save $30-$40 from the regular $120 price.
Pros: Helps to identify certain swing flaws immediately. A great tool to practice with in between lessons or if you need to groove certain proper mechanics.
Cons: You can cheat a little on the take away, and as a result develop a bad habit there. However, knowing this before you use it should prevent you from cheating to begin with.
Quality: Overall good quality. The adds say you can hit balls with this, but you really can't, nor should you.

Review Summary: This is one of the better training aids on the market. (I think the momentus is another really good one, which I have as well. Momentus builds strenth, but the medicus focuses more on form. Both attributes are key to longer and straighter shots.) I would not rely ONLY on the medicus (or any training aid) to improve or correct a flawed golf swing. I would use this club in conjunction with a few lessons, but not for a replacement of regular advise from a golf pro. It is a great tool to use in between lessons at the range or in your living room when your golf pro isn't around, or to warm-up before a normal round. It's worked for me when practicing drills to get rid of my bad habits or when I get lazy in my form. Obviously, it's more useful for mid/high handicapers and definitely for someone just starting out.
