On 2003-12-05, Todd rated this Mizuno Blue Rage 3-Wood a 5...(2584)

Purchase: After finally getting the set of irons & wedges that I wanted, I new it was time to replace my old and outdated set of woods. So I started with the 3-Wood and worked my way up. This item was purchased on Ebay for $76 which was for a brand new club with headcover and also included shipping and handling.
Pros: It sounds simple minded I know, but the blue heads, on the Mizuno Blue Rage, makes this particular line of woods fantastic to look at. I also appreciate the compact head on the club when standing over the ball at address! I have never liked a big head on a wood and if thats your preference, then this line of woods is possibly for you. If you prefer a larger type head on your woods ...then this MAY not be the club for you! I also like the feel of this wood. The feel is soft & solid which probably comes from Mizuno’s Grain Flow Forging Technology! I also appreciate the forgiveness that this small head gives you. Distance on this club is best described as "explosive," out of any type lie ...
Cons: Its hard to pick anything about this 3-Wood, but if I had to pick SOMETHING ...I'd have to go with the cheap rubber grip on the club. Such a cheap grip, for such a beautiful club. Kind of surprising from a company such as Mizuno. Its usuable but could and should be a quality grip, IMO!
Quality: Construction and quality appears flawless. The club is Grain Flow Forged, has a stainless steel face and neck and precision "hi-tech" crown and sole create an ideal center of gravity for forgiveness on most shots. The club also has a nice solid "ping" upon contact and the sweet spot is quite large for such a small club head. The grooves are large and deep for optimal playability and spin.

Review Summary: Great club at an even better price. With the New Mizuno MP-001 already on the market, the clubs can be purchased VERY inexpensively and provides golfers of many skill levels, a brand name wood at an affordable price.
