On 2002-11-24, Steve Smith rated this Mizuno Blue Rage Forged 3-Wood a 4...(826)

Purchase: After a dissapointing round with my old Callaway wood, I thought that I should try out a new Mizuno wood to match my set of Comp EZ irons. I tested it at an indore swing simulator and loved it almost right away. I bought it at Golf Galaxy for $199.99 plus tax.
Pros: Farther drives than my old wood. It could almost replace my driver due to the accuracy and ability to slam the ball 240 yards off the tee without even hardly trying. It is a good club to learn the game with. I only seem to get better in distance with every round. I can literally say that in the time that I have enjoyed this club, maybe 6 strokes and 15-20 yards have been added to my game.
Cons: I found the club to be more difficult to draw than my old 3-wood. The club is generally very easy to hit even for me, being a 20 handicap, but I think that it is a bit small, often punishing you on those less than perfect swings. The club's paint was really the only downside. It began to come off quickly on the toe after only 2 months after purchase. The face of the club seemed to hold up for about 5 months, but now after 16 rounds it has some nicks and scratches.
Quality: It has a light feeling, making you want to swing it faster. Great forged head and a terrific shaft. I found that the grip was only average, being a little slippery at times. Overall, it was worth the money. This club gives you a lot of confidence at address.

Review Summary: Terrific distance, outhits my driver nearly 50 percent of the time. This 3-wood outhit my old Callaway Warbird by 15 yards. Superb accuracy. I would recommend this club to all handicapo levels. Eventough the clubface is under 240 cc's, it is hard to miss the sweatspot on this wood.
