Details: MP-30s 1 degree flat w/Rifle flighted shafts, 5.2, and Lampkin cord grips.

Purchase: Bought from the pro shop after a dynamic fitting. I played with the stock shafts for a year before changing to Rifle shafts. I paid the professional's courtesy price, too low to imagine, so the retail mark-up is near or above 100%.
Pros: The feel, or no feel actually, when you hit the smallish sweet spot. They're beautiful to look at in the bag and at address. They just look like they're going to do the proscribed job whether a full swing, knockdown, or around the green. The club sets up very well for all shots. Tight lies are not a problem since the leading edge is angled appropriately. They're very responsive to moving the ball left and right, high and low. Workability is built in. These are as close to perfection you will find if your game can match them. Low to plus handicappers will be very, very pleased.
Cons: The chromed heads scratch fairly easily and, as another reviewer points out, the faces will show wear from practice. The wear on the faces and scratches on the soles might put off some players when trying to buy used, but cosmetics aren't all that these are about. Don't be fooled by the cavity-back look, this is a blade hiding under there and if you want forgiveness go to church. These don't make up for a less than perfect swing like a true cavity-back. Anything out on the toe or low on the face produces a poor shot in distance and ball flight. As pretty as they are, they're not for everyone. They are a club shorter than my previous set (Ping Zing 2) so be prepared to set your distances over again.
Quality: First-rate construction and materials, although I changed the cheap True Temper shafts for Rifle Flighted and got the results I was seeking. Mizuno doesn't make the shafts so it's the heads that are superior.

Review Summary: If you have a good, consistent swing these are great, but if your swing needs work, spend your money on lessons. Beautiful irons, look great at address and to show your friends - they'll drool so stand back a foot or so. They can be anywhere from a half to full club short depending on the irons you play now. Unforgiving, they play like the blades they are. These are the most workable irons I've ever hit, but don't look to the club for help on these or any shots because you won't find any. Mizuno's MP series are the best looking clubs out there from what I've seen.

Details: Steel shafted, chrome finish

Purchase: I aquired thie irons from american golf. They regular retail price is £550 or roughly $1000. However I managed to get hold of them for £350 in a christmas sale. I chose to buy these clubs as i was getting more serious about golf and thought it was time to upgrade from some ancient ben sayers i was using.
Pros: The aspect i like most about this clubs is their blade type shape. I personally dislike all the big cavity back irons as they feel clumsy and inaccurate when i swing them. However the MP-32's look beuatiful behind the ball and the blade like appearance helps me to focus rather than put me off. When i pick up one of these beauty's i know i am gonna nail it on the green. These irons have done wonders for my short iron game. Also these clubs are very aesthetically pleasing with a chrome like finish which really makes them stand out and look professional. Also this clubs feel so sweet out of the middle.
Cons: I cant say these clubs are the most forgiving clubs. If you hit a shot thin you are gonna feel it.
Quality: This clubs are extremely well made and feel vey solid and powerful in your hand.

Review Summary: Overall these clubs are fantastic. However they suit a consistent ball striker.

Purchase: Had been struggling for a while with a set of custom made callaway X14-Pro's, which felt harsh, unforgiving and inconsistent. I had been looking around for a while and spent some time on the Mizuno stand. I fell in love instantly with the MP-32's but thought that may be too much of a step from the Callaways. I visited my local Mizuno fitting shop (just down from Royal Birkdale) and found that my Custom Fit Callaways were way off spec - now the proud owner of a set of MP-30's 2 degrees upright and 1 inch over standard length with Lamkin Crossline Midsize grips for which I paid £470. But have they worked? A resounding yes! In the last 3 months I have flushed more shots than in the past 4 years - the feel and trajectory is magnificent, I can shape the ball better, I am much more consistent and having seen my handicaop inch up to 9, the last time I played I shot gross 74 and cleaned up.
Pros: The thin tip line, the chromed finish, the feel off the clubface, the look behind the ball - need I say any more?
Cons: Only minor grips is the need to keep them clean after each round - but hey, let's not get too down on ourselves.
Quality: Quite simply the best

Review Summary: One major regret - why did it take me so long to find these clubs? The best I have ever owned and for those of you who have yet to experience hitting a Mizuno I recommend you make an appointment at your local stockist! Now as for the Raw Haze wedges...........!

Purchase: I saw this in golfworks as I was looking for a set of new irons. I read about the MX-23's being the iron of the new club test so I really wanted to try them. When I saw these clubs I thought, those are nice but I probably cant hit them. Boy I was wrong. I got a good deal 550 for 3-pw
Pros: I like the look of these irons. They seem more conventional than other technological items. These are some great feeling sticks when you put the ball in the middle of the club face. These helped me shave some strokes off my game.
Cons: They dent a little too easy but I hear that all forged irons do.
Quality: Mizuno is known for their wonderful irons.

Review Summary: Dont base your decision on your handicap. I am 16 years old and about a 12 hadicap. I thought these would be alittle much for my game until I gave them a try. So before you judge them at least hit them a few times.

Purchase: I bought these clubs on ebay for $700. I have ping i3 o-size that I hit great, but I wanted a blade. Well it turns out that I lost about 10 yards of distance on every club.
Pros: They are great clubs, you can't beat the feel and look, but the distance is lacking.
Cons: I don't like the distance these clubs produce. It is a high lazy ball flight compared to the ping i3 o-size (high/long)Ping i3 o-size 8 iron=160 yards Mizuno MP30 8 iron=145-150 yards
Quality: Construction and quality are first class.

Review Summary: Excellent clubs for mid to low handicapper if distance and ball flight do not matter. However, these clubs may just not fit my swing.

Purchase: Bought in Dallas Texas at Wally's Discount Golf for $750.
Pros: Absolutely great. Not for the higher handicapper necissarily. This is basically as close to a blade as you can get without being a true blade. Clubs allow you to work the ball easily, and despite what some reviews say, they do not sacrifice much distance. I would recommend for the lower handicapped player. Pierces through the wind and lands softly on all greens. Cosmetically perfect also.
Cons: A bad miss hit will not be very forgiving.
Quality: Perfect. Very durable.

Review Summary: Great all around club for a player who plays more than just once a week. Even if you do play only once a week, still try to hit these clubs. I promise you will notice a difference.

On 2004-07-12, Morgan rated this Mizuno MP-30 a 5...(3865)

Purchase: I got these used for 550 which isnt bad because their in great condition and they are 800 new.
Pros: The mirror chrome finish. Not very much offset. The progressive muscle/cavity back design. These are the best feeling clubs I have ever hit. They are easier to hit then you might think. Try them before you judge them.
Cons: they ding alittle too easy for my likings.
Quality: Good Quality with a good finish.

Review Summary: Great irons if you are looking to get serious about golf. Pricey but definately worth it in the long run.

On 2004-03-01, MN_mike rated this Mizuno MP-30 a 5...(2971)

Purchase: Tried these on Demo at the MN Golf Show. Just a few strokes and I was hooked.
Pros: Silky smooth feel and incredible feedback. I have played Ping O-size for two plus seasons now, and I have been missing out! The Mizunos tell you when you've struck the ball well, and not too harshly tell you when you've missed the mark. TT Dynamic Gold shafts are tight, and keep shot pattern close. Beautiful clubheads. Ability to work the ball, yet forgiving.
Cons: I can tell the forged heads are soft and will dent with use. But for the amount of feedback they provide, well worth it.
Quality: Top notch. A real work of art. Almost make you feel guilty hitting balls with them, but I'd get over it.

Review Summary: I have another season to go before I can trade in my Pings and not feel too guilty about it, but these are top of the list as to my next purchase. I am currently a 14 handicap, and these clubs would bridge the gap nicely between my current set and a set of blades. Try these, you'll be hooked!

On 2004-03-01, Kool-KC rated this Mizuno MP-30 a 5...(2980)

Purchase: I paid $799.99 at the Puetz Golf in Seattle, Washington.
Pros: This iron set is made w/ very nice and sharp looking. Also, nice & soft feeling when you make a contact to the ball. It will definally improve your golf game w/ lower score.
Cons: Since it is made for advanced player such as lower handy cap player, very easy to mis-hit.
Quality: Well made muscle back cavity irons

Review Summary: When you play golf w/ Mizuno MP-30, it makes you feeling that you are more like a pro player. You will enjoy your golf game everytime you hit a ball w/ this club.

Purchase: GOT SET ONLINE AT INSTANT REPLAY GOLF.COM TRADED SET TAYLOR MADE RACLT W/ SAME MAKE R540 DRIVER EVEN UP..... SET WAS PRICED AT 499.00 USED. I GOT THE BETTER OF THE DEAL!!
Pros: BEING LEFTHANDED, IT'S HARD TO TRY DIFFERENT CLUBS BUT I'VE HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE OF OWNING OR HITTING THE FOLLOWING IRONS: PING EYE-2'S,MAXFLI REVOLUTIONS, TOMY ARMOUR V-31 RO, AND TITLEIST 962,990,731PM AND 690MB IRONS....ALL IN EFFORT TO REPLACE MY FORGED CAVITY BACK RAM FX2 WHICH I PLAYED FOR OVER SIX YRS.I'VE USED THESE ONLY ONCE AND THEY ARE EXCELLENT IRONS 14/18 GIR WITH NO PRIOR PRACTICE...LIKE MIZUNO BUILT THESE FOR ME. THE FEEL, TRAJECTORY, LOOKS, PLAYABILITY EVERYTHING IS HERE, A COMPLETE CUMULATION OF ALL THE ABOVE SETS. WOW!!!! THE REVIEWS WHICH PROMPTED ME TO BUY THESE IRONS WERE CORRECT. JUST A WONDERFUL SET
Cons: OMIT THIS SECTION....
Quality: MIZUNO'S CLAIM TO FAME IS A CONSISTENT FORGING WITH GRAIN FLOW TECHNOLOGY. IT'S A NOTICEABLE FEATURE WITH EACH AND EVERY SWING. SERIOUS CLUBS FOR SERIOUS PLAYERS....HMMM I'VE HEARD THAT SOMEWHERE BEFORE. LOL

Review Summary: REGARDLESS OF HANDICAP, MORE PEOPLE SHOULD TRY A COMBO CLUB LIKE A FORGED CAVITY BACK IRON. THEY'RE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS...AND MORE FORGIVENESS THAN EXPECTED!

On 2003-07-26, Rob rated this Mizuno MP-30 a 5...(1893)

Purchase: Chicago Discount Golf $599 3-PW I purchased these Irons becaue I was tried of playing a cast iron and I wanted to make a serious effort to be a better palyer.
Pros: The weighting in the head seems to promote an on plane swing. If you move the iron off plane you can feel the club head start to go off track. It will force you to swing better, however, you may need some lessions in order to better understand where you want the club head positioned in the backswing. Great feel at impact. Awesome looking irons.
Cons: Nothing! Great Irons!
Quality: Excellent construction.

Review Summary: I would get fitted with a golf pro on a range and not some random teen in a simulator at the local golf store. The pro is better becaue he would be able to correctly identify loft angle adjustments in addition to the other specs. If you get extended shaft lengths you may want to go with a stiffer shaft. The longer shaft changes the dynamics of the club due to the swingweight changing. Don't listen to the BS about handicap and you need to be this and that to hit these irons. Handicap in my opinion has little to do with how you hit your irons. I would say that in order to hit these irons you need to know how the swing plane should work.

Purchase: GolfBargains.com, $799 w/205 off coupon
Pros: Looks are comfortable to the eyes.
Cons: Head feels much heavier than a muscle back blade. (I used to play MP-14s and Hogan Apexes. Don't know actual head weight of the MP-30) A clean shot doesn't produce the same sweet feel a blade does. Forgiveness not really noticeable.
Quality: Quality and construction is top notch.

Review Summary: Still continuing my search for a club with the perfect combination of forgiveness and sweet feel. Looking into Bridgestone Tourstage irons. 201s? MR-23s?

On 2003-01-27, MikeyC. rated this Mizuno MP-30 a 5...(916)

Purchase: I recently purchased my new irons from The Golf Warehouse. Because of my custom fit specs. (1 degree upright on #'s 3 and 4 irons plus Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips)they came factory direct from Mizuno. The price was $810, UPS ground included. The only downside of my on-line purchase was the 5 week wait due to custom fitting. On a positive note the MSRP on new MP-30's is currently $1100. I bought them after hitting the prototype at last years New England Golf Expo. It was love at first hit.
Pros: It's much easier for me to keep these irons square at impact. My Titleist 962's were fine when I was a 18 handicap but as my game progressed and my swing became harder I would have to consciously open the face of the club at address to avoid pull hooks or dead left. As soon as I hit a dozen or so #6 irons of my new clubs I was already noticing a straighter, higher and more penetrating ball flight. I can't say it's "cast vs. forged" but I am definitely happier with the clubs and 10 yards further down the fairway.
Cons: I honestly have no complaints so far outside of the fact that they look a little funny in my Titleist bag surrounded by Vokey and Scotty. I'd buy a Mizuno bag but have you seen them?, UGLY!!!
Quality: You can tell by looking at these irons that someone put a lot of thought and love into them. Grain flow forged technology with a cavity just big enough not to scare you away. They look great from every angle and feel and look to be quite a bit more durable that Titleist or Nike clubs.

Review Summary: I'm ecstatic about my new irons and can not wait until spring when I can go out and hit them on a daily basis. I do believe that these irons will help to enable me to reach my ultimate goals in golf.
