Details: Standard lie, True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 shaft. Factory grip.
Purchase: I picked up a Demo 6 iron at a golf shop that was going out of business for $5. Couldn't pass it up and the shaft is worth twice that. Pros: Excellent iron, IF you have the game for it. Mizuno is known for making some of the best irons in golf, and the MP-33's are an excellent example of the quality. Very good feel at contact, IF you hit the ball PERFECTLY. Very easy to work the ball with this club. Good distance and ball flight Cons: Not for the average golfer, This is NOT a foregiving iron. If you don't hit the ball very well, you get BAD results. You will not get away with ANYTHING. Mishit balls will send a stinking shock up the shaft right into your hands. Not much fun in cold weather. Quality: Quality is first rate, like all Mizuno irons. Review Summary: IF you have the game, this is a great set of irons, IF NOT, don't even think about getting these clubs. You'll PAY for them twice, ONce when you buy them, and second every time you mishit a ball. IF you are a very good golfer, and your iron game is the best thing about your game, then the MP-33's are highly recommended, IF NOT, stick with a more forgiving set of irons.

Purchase: Purchased off E-bay in "8 of 10" used condition. I had been playing cavity backs and got my handicap down to a 9 with them. Wanted to go to the next level. Pros: These are so silky smooth!! Feel like the ball melts off the club face. Reduced offset compared to my Ping I3 O-size helps to work the ball more accurately. Not at all hard to hit as I had thought they would be. A lot of this is my improved swing, but not too harsh on mishits. Tell me exactly what I did wrong. The best part is they help me to develop a fluid, repeatable swing. When I mishit them, it is genarally because my swing is too fast and out of tempo. I was surprised how much these spin into the greens. The True Temper S300 shafts provide a real boring trajectory. For some reason the longer irons have been easier to hit for me than my Ping I3 O-size. Go figure! Distance is just as long, but feel, feel, feel! Cons: Forged clubs ding so easily. I bought these used to absorb some of the cost in this regard. Its like driving that new sports car off the showroom floor. Once hit and used for a while, dings are bound to happen. This set was in great shape and the dings were from typical bag wear and don't affect the playability in any way. I changed the grips and couldn't be happier. Quality: So far, so good. The soft feel of these irons is beyond reproach. They have a reputation they precedes them. Even though newer models are out from Mizuno, Luke Donald and Todd Hamilton have won on the Tour this year with the MP-33's. Soft carbon steel dings easy, but it's what give them such a sweet feel. Review Summary: I have played my Pings for about 3 seasons now. I think they were actually holding me back in some ways. Don't be intimidated by the "blade" word with these sticks. Although I would recommend having around a 10 or lower handicap, the MP-33 irons are not punishing on mishits, with the direction staying right on course and only a small loss in distance. Workability is awesome, and the feel of a forged iron is just something that must be experienced first-hand. Like I said before, try to find a near-new used set, as forged clubs ding so quick you'll be money ahead. On 2004-03-19, Picasso826 rated this Mizuno MP-33 a 5...(3148)
Purchase: I've always hit blades. I learned the game from my dad on blades. It wasn't until I got back into the game, about a year ago, that I started my education about where technology has brought us in the 15 or so years I hadn't seen a golf course. Everyone, both friends and instructors, told me that I had to get rid of my dads old blades and buy a new set of cavity backs. "They are easier to hit and very forgiving" ,they would tell me. I have come to hate the word 'forgiving' in golf.
To me it means lazy or unwilling to improve a faulty swing...a band-aid. Still, I tried just about every iron on the market from Callaways to Pings, you name it. Whether you made a good shot or a bad one, every shot felt the same. The one thing that I never found on any of those clubs was the euphoria felt by a well struck forged iron blade. If you've had the experience of what I'm talking about, you know there just isn't anything like it! Ok, so with all this in mind, I focused my search on the ultimate blade. I tried Taylormade, MacGregor, Nike, Titleist, Ben Hogan and Mizuno. Some were better than others but one came through every time. I'll go so far as to say that I probably could have identified them blindfolded. The Mizuno MP-33 won hands down for feel, balance, quality, performance and looks. There is nothing sweeter (in this game) than a well hit ball with a Mizuno Mp-33 iron...nothing! In a sense, I was relieved to find out that there was a club that I could be inspired by. My only remaining task was buying them. I could have saved a few dollars buying them on eBay but I figured for just a few dollars more that I would get properly fitted and a little pampered at the local golf shop. I did play a little hardball but managed to get them down to an acceptable price, around $630.00.
Pros: The clubs scream premium quality. They have this look and feel that is hard to describe but you just know that they're serious clubs. These are the kind that you take extra care of because you know that they'll take care of you on the course. The weight and balance of these clubs are perfect as compared to other blades I tried. The sense of confidence comes over you to just pull them back and let them go. That's not to say they are easy clubs. As with all clubs, it's up to you to nail that swing. Simply, these clubs greatly reward your efforts. They look great in my bag. The nice clean lines are very appealing. When I first got them, I found myself staring at them from a distance kind of like glancing at your date from across a crowded room. If you get them, you won't think that's as crazy as it may sound. Cons: There isn't a thing that I could criticize on these clubs. I'm sure some people may want to run off and change the grips but, then again, grips are always a very personal choice on any club. The Mizuno grips are just fine by me. Quality: The irons are forged. Right off you know that means that they are softer than cast iron clubs. I have heard and seen these clubs get pretty beat. That's just the price you pay for the incredible feel of forged. You've got to take care of them if you care about how they look. A friend of mine accomplishes this by using head covers which seems a little annoying. I, on the other hand, bought a Bennington 'Quiet Organizer' bag which keeps the irons seperated by design. After 4 months of play (two rounds a week), the clubs look near-new. These clubs are Top-Of-The-Line all the way. Review Summary: The best way for me to summarize my experience with these clubs is by telling you that they are inspirational...they make me want to be a better golfer. Unlike the sea of 'forgiving' (I-suck-at-this-game-and-don't-want-to-work-at-getting-better) kind of clubs out there, the Mizuno MP-33 irons reward you for swinging well and talk to you when you mishit. Again, the reward you get with a well hit ball is awesome and will inspire you to make all of your shots better. I love these clubs and thank Mizuno for having designed something for those of us who still believe that golf is a sport to be championed and not just a passtime. Good golfing! Purchase: Paid $550 for a 1 year old used set via a friend Pros: Played cavity backs for a couple years and decided to demo these "bad boys". Boy did I learn something. I learned these clubs are SWEET! I finally understand what "feedback" feels like and what it feels like to attack the pins. If you strike the ball well and shoot below 100, you should definately benifit from thes clubs and shoot even lower. The hype is real. Solid shots. Feels like a hot knife through butter. Smooth baby! Cons: Not dam thing. I love em! Quality: Class A , all the way. Review Summary: If you are looking to buy any blade type clubs, these are the ones you should demo. You should demo any club before buying them. Even the looks of these will give you confidence. They are almost too dam pretty to play with. Bottom line: They flat out rock. Purchase: I went to my local Golf Pro at Overlook Golf course in Lancaster PA for a fitting and during the session he suggeted that I go with the MP-33 irons.
$700.00 4-PW Pros: These clubs have the best, most solid feel when I strike the ball that I have ever felt. The control is remarkable as well and these irons look like a work of art. Cons: The only thing that I have to adjust to is the fact that the lofts are a bit weaker than my previous irons and these irons fly a bit higher. Other than that, nothing. Quality: They are forged from 1030 carbon steel which gives them their superior beauty and feel. Review Summary: If you are a lower handicap golfer looking for a great all around iron. The mizuno MP-33 is the one you should try. They are much easier to hit then anyone realizes. On 2002-11-14, Tony Sekula Jr rated this Mizuno MP-33 a 5...(790)
Purchase: I purchase this set over the internet from Martin's in Myrtle Beach. I was wanting to switch from a cavity back iron to an iron with more playability. I paid $699.00 for them. Pros: This is a high quality forged blade. Switching from a cavity back iron I thought I would lose some forgiveness. These irons are great. It is very easy to work the ball from left-to-right or right-to-left. It is very easy to understand why this is the number one iron on the PGA Tour. Cons: I could not find anything to dislike about these irons. Quality: The view looking down give you the feeling of cavity back iron with the playability of a blade. These irons are perfectly weighted to give you the confidence to drive through the shot. Review Summary: If you are an above average golfer looking to take your game to the next level, this is your club. Sleek looks and perfect weight make this club a must. Purchase: I bought this set of beautiful irons from my local pro for $650 new. I wanted to get some new irons because my old ones looked as bad as I had been playing. Probably, I bought them for the wrong reason...looks. I loved the simple design and admired Mizuno's reputation in forged irons. Still, I new I would have to better my swing in order to hit these clubs. Pros: I was suprised how easy it was to adjust to them. A little funny looking at address the first couple of days, compared to my oversized cavity backs, but extremely solid feeling when well struck. Still, I was hitting every shot solidly. I worked hard over the winter on my swing and gradually grew fonder of these beauties. Knowing I had to be precise allowed me to focus on a smooth swing and remain still through my swing. I hit an occasional iron from a buddy and I'm always reminded of the superiority of these soft, solid blades. Cons: Don't mishit 'em in cold weather! Ouch!!! Quality: Abosolutely the sweetest, most solid, yet soft, feeling golf clubs anywhere. Oh, also the best looking! Review Summary: I recommend exactly the opposite of the norm. Buy a set of these clubs and you'll be forced to become better. To many golfers look for ways to hide their swing flaws with forgiving golf technology. Non-Sense! Learn to swing these puppies and and you'll look and score better. And, you'll be playing the best irons made! On 2002-09-30, RG rated this Mizuno MP-33 a 5...(635)
Purchase: Bought them new from local golf store. I paid $700.00. Pros: Forgiving some what you must have a smooth controled swing to be able to get the most out of these blade. Distance is about 10 yards shaort then my old irons, but in return i have more control of the ball now. Cons: Not much. Quality: Awsome chrome mirror finished. Review Summary: MP-33 are the best clubs in the market today. Every one with a smooth swing can play with these irons. On 2002-08-29, Jay Noslo rated this Mizuno MP-33 a 5...(486)
Purchase: I purchased these clubs from Mizuno and had them custom fit per my specifications. I bought them because Mizuno is known for producing a quality, highly dependable product. It also isn't a bad thing that they are a tour favorite because of phenomenal touch, feel, and shot shaping. I paid about $700. Pros: Hitting an oversized cavity may initially increase ones ability to hit a golf ball down the fairway, but the difference between playing a cavity vs. a blade changes the game completely. Golf is a sport requiring stamina, flexibility, hand/eye coordination and mental agility, but it is also an art requiring the delicate hand of a master craftsman. If all you've ever played is cavities then blades will be an adjustment for sure. But, when you start hitting your blades on all cylinders the game transends what most weekend warriors experience which is simply chasing a little white ball around a course. Hitting Mizuno's MP-33's well is nothing short of getting a glimse of perfection. A well struck ball simply feels like the ball got scared and decided it wanted to get down the fairway before it got hit. To the player the only proof that you didn't wiff on the shot is that your ball is now well down the fairway. Cons: The only drawback to these clubs are that they mark up easily if not well taken care of. I have also seen rust develop in some of the marks on the face of my clubs. Quality: Aside from the mark and rust issue descibed above, which are minor if you're careful, the construction of these clubs are without equal. Review Summary: The bottom line is if you buy a set of these clubs you are a person who wants to experience the sport on a whole different level. The game obviously is a passion for you and you're not likely to be a person who is content to play 3 or 4 times a year. Mediocre players want to play with better players because it elevates their game, the same principle applies to playing these clubs. Given time and practice these clubs will change your game, guaranteed, so go out and scare a ball down the fairway.
