Purchase: One of my greatest disappointments in life is that didn't start playing golf until I was in my early 40's. I am an analytical person so studies different brands of clubs before making a purchase. I specifically chose Ping - I purchased a set of the CuBe ISI's - because of their record of excellent customer service and technical proficiency. I really wanted the nickel irons but "settled" for the copper because the set was less expensive. The nickel irons felt buttery soft but the cost was too high. The ISI design helped with my frequent mishits, but the copper felt harder - even with graphite shafts. I have struggled with my game using these irons since 1997, even though I moved from Vermont to Scottsdale, AZ (golf heaven) in 1998 and play frequently. Ironically, Karsten's headquarters is nearby in the Phoenix valley. I've had good opportunity to get help with my swing and to discuss my choice of clubs. I recently made a switch to the Mizuno MX-20's from a local pro shop here in Scottsdale. I paid $550 for the set and an additional $100 for a Mizuno 56 deg. wedge.
Pros: It is clear to me now that the MX-20s give me what I was trying to achieve with the Pings. I wanted to slow down my swing just a bit, get greater accuracy and consistency from the shaft, and that sweet, soft feel - the "click" - of a well-struck ball flying of the clubface. The forged, soft 1035 carbon steel (not as soft as the 1025 but perhaps a bit stronger) reminds me of the nickel Pings but at a little over half the price. The ball (I live on Legend Trail Golf Course and have collected hundreds of balls of all makes, so I have tried them all) reacts differently off the face of the forged irons than the cast irons. I'm not a technical expert so can only tell you what I've experienced - my accuracy has greatly increased. I shot a 78 on the TPC desert course (par 70) a few weeks ago, and just shot a 90 on my home course (I blew up on the par 5 16th hole with a '9' or my score would have been mid 80s)- and my "honest" handicap has averaged about 20+. I assume the favorable results are the combination of club design, steel shaft, materials used, and the positive reinforcement of the new purchase.
Cons: I purchased stock stafts - True Temper Dynalite with regular (300) flex. I get greater distance than with the graphite shafts and my resulting scores to date indicate greater accuracy obtained as well. However, the ball trajectory is too high for my taste, even with 3/4 swings. I should have gone with the Rifle flighted but got talked out of them by the shop manager with a story about manufacturing problems with the latter shafts. I also changed from the stock grip to a set of Softies.
Quality: The construction and quality are flawless. I use a wet rag on the clubhead after each shot and have purchased as set of head covers that have helped stem the eventual dings and scratches from rattling around in the bag.

Review Summary: Still a novice to this great game (but striving to improve), I accomplished my objectives - shot accuracy and length, and clubhead feel and control - with the Mizuno MX-20s. The result of going with a forged clubhead with a cavity back has been lower scores and accolades from my playing partners. The shafts are adequate and represent a reasonable compromize for a set of clubs in this price range and their kick point gives a higher ball flight that translates into greater distance with softer landings. I have gained confidence with these irons, and this has made each round more enjoyable with lower scores.

Purchase: I purchased this set of clubs from Golf Alley, a golf speciality store in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I had been playing with a set of PING ISI-K's for the past 5 years and wanted to go to a forged club with a smaller head. I liked the overall look and feel of the Mizunos and I was able to custom fit them from the factory when I ordered them. I paid $669 for 3 thru PW.
Pros: Having played approximately 20 rounds with the MX-20's, the best feature is the forged head. There is immediate feedback on each shot without it being to harsh on mis-hits. The smaller head is easier to get through the turf and I'm able to work my shots to a greater degree. There is less offset than my PINGS and the overall look is more traditional.
Cons: One thing I would change about the clubs are the factory grips. Next season I will go with a midsized, WINN grip. I've also noticed that I've lost a club in terms of distance but then again I really didn't need to be hitting 150 yard pitching wedges anyway. This was probably due more to the PINGS having a steeper loft than my golfing ability or strength.
Quality: The overall quality and construction of these irons is first rate. The finish is flawless and they perform as advertised. While they are a forged club, they retain some of the characteristics of a cast club: mild off-set and a cavity back design with a mid-sized club head.

Review Summary: After considering other clubs ( Hogan Apex Plus and Cleveland and Taylormade ) I decided on the MX-20's because of their look and their value. The Hogans were a close second but they were being discontinued in that model. My game certainly wasn't ready for a blade but I was looking for an upgrade beyond what a cast iron had to offer. The Mizunos have turned out to be exactly what I was looking for in a set of irons.
