Purchase: Roger Dunn, North Hollywood, CA, for $119.
I needed a putter to help me with my long putts, because with my brush grip, I couldn't get much power on the uphill putts - the grip helps with stroking it nicely and keeping it in line without the yips.
Pros: (I had been using the Odyssey White Hot in the same shape, pretty much). This new putter from Never Compromise have the Gray and the Red series. The "Gray" insert is supposed to be softer, more bounce than the "Red" series. I like a bit of softness and yet rebound. The White Hot was great for short putts, I could never miss a straight, solid 6 foot putt - you had to find the right ball to work with the dead feeling of the face on that putter. But when it came to longer putts, say, 40 feet or more something - the White Hot did not work very well with the funky grip I have. But this new Grey putter with its face - I can make the face rebound a little more and that helps my putt going easier. The short putts I can ease the hit on the face and stroke it just as good, if not better, than the Odyssey. And I'm immensely enjoying the slightly more active face of the "Gray."
Cons: Nothing!
Quality: Excellent quality, nice sticky grip, solid. Very solid construction which is a necessity for controlling putts for touch, and with the face insert on this putter, that is just fun to have.
Review Summary: Confidence. I feel the putt going in when I line up the ball.
Highly highly recommend this putter for guys needing control of the stroke - keeping it line and giving the ball the correct amount of power and roll. I find that this club is not easy to get the yipsy-twist that you might get from other funny shaped putters. You can relax the hands and let the putter do the talking, and hit with confidence.
Of course there are various shapes to the putter, so I recommend trying various shapes. This number 2 Gray suits me perfect for my stroke.
