Details: Nickent TriMax 460, 9 degree, 55 gram stiff flex UST shaft.

Purchase: It's now spring 2006 and I know this driver has been out since 2004. I got it at Nevada Bob's in Ottawa for $132.00 U.S. I finished last season with a Titleist 905T and I was hitting that driver very good - but over the winter I took the opportunity to look at drivers with the larger 460cc head. I knew Titleist was coming out with the larger 905R but I wanted to see what else was out there. I demoed the Sesquatch, Mizuno MX500, Cobra F Series, Titleist 905R, MACTEC, Cleveland Hi-Bore and the Tour Edge Exotic. I almost bought the Exotic but I thought I'd take one more look around Nevada Bob's and there in the rack with the Epics and the Goliaths and Mammoths drivers was a number of the Nickent TriMax 460's.
Pros: I've been looking for a driver with certain specifications: 460cc, 9 or 9.5 degree loft, 45 3/4 or 46 inch shaft, light-weight, stiff shaft and a newer Winn grip. The Nickent 460 TriMax had it all, 9 degree, 46 inch, 55 gram, stiff shaft and a Nickent-Winn Arrow grip. Some of the 460 heads are very round: short in breadth and depth, and very deep faced, others are flat: short in breadth, way too long in depth and shallow faced. The TriMax is: long in breadth and depth and a deep face - but not too deep. It has extemely good proportions. It sets up so nice to the eye.
Cons: Absolutely nothing to dislike.
Quality: The construction and quality of the TriMax is First-Rate. The hook-up with the shaft and grip is outstanding. The color of the driver-head is a very deep, dark burgundy - it looks black, except in the bright sunlight. The UST 55 gram stiff shaft is black with silver stancilling and Nickent-Winn grip is actually the Winn Arrow, V-17 black grip. It is one nice driver, very well engineered with the SP-700 face. This is a Premium level club!

Review Summary: Bottom Line: The first time I played with it I hit two drives over 290 yards, sadly they did not reach 300 so I can't brag about that yet. The Fairways here are a little damp and there's not much run. This driver is long, real long and very straight with a high trajectory. Longest driver I've ever played. I don't work my drives much, once in while on a dogleg to the right , I'll weaken my grip and play a slight fade, but for the most part -straight down the middle is my preference. This club really delivers straight and long. It seems like the big name brands are trying to play catch-up with this driver -but Nickent got it all right - those other drivers still have a ways to go and this driver is two years old! If you see one out there -grab it -it's a great driver. I'm looking forward to a great golf season and getting my average drive per round up in the 270's.
