On 2009-07-28, Glenn Bowers rated this Nickent 3DX a 5...(8483)

Details: 3dx red hybrid 3 and $ 5-pw with stiff graphite

Purchase: Purchased at Rock bottom golf for 126.00
Pros: These irons are long and forgiving. Still carry well on off center hits. lower more piercing trajectory.
Cons: I wish I could have the 3 and 4 irons instead of the hybrids.
Quality: Excellent quality and well made. A real bargain, I hit these better than 600.00 sets of irons.

Review Summary: I recommend trying these out, you might be very pleasantly surprised by these irons.

Details: red backs; 3 and 4 hybrid ironwoods with UST SR2 graphite, 5-pw true temper steel, all regular flex

Purchase: nevada bob's for 299. needed to upgrade from a beginners set that starting to fall apart at the heads...its a bad sign when the club head flies further than the ball.
Pros: easy to get the ball in to the air with every club, and distances between clubs are seemless. hybrids give you confidence from 200-240 out. 5-pw are great too, soles aren't too wide like all the other game-improvement irons out there...wide soles make me uncomfortable for some reason. nickent is the only company that makes their steel shafted clubs the same length as the graphite counterparts, so steel shafts are 1/4'' longer than callaway's, taylormades, etc. that is the perfect length for my height actually so it saved me from going the custom route which costs many dollars i don't have.
Cons: nothing really. topline took some getting used to but that goes for any club. wouldn't mind a thinner topline i guess, but i don't even notice anymore
Quality: excellent. irons are solid. winn grips are great too, so much more comfortable than what is stock on the competition's clubs. saved me from having to regrip right away

Review Summary: most places have this combo set for 299. the same stores sell each hybrid for 100. nickent has always been known for making the best hybrids, and i have to say they are worth all the hype. if you buy both the hybrids, its like getting 5-pw for a hundred bucks...can't beat that deal. it's also gravy that the clubs are some of the best on the market.

Details: Ironwood hybrid 3 and 4, regular irons 5 through P.

Purchase: I stopped at a demo days event with the intent of purchasing a set of Ben Hogan CFT clubs, hybrids and irons. I did not hit the Hogans as well as I would have liked. The next booth was Nickent. I hit them very well. The gentleman at the booth spent time with me and allowed me to hit as many balls with as many clubs as I wanted. We decided that I hit the steel shafts better than I hit the graphite shafts. I hit the graphite shafts longer, but the steel was more accurate. I paid $450 for a 3 and 4 Genex hybrid and a regular 3DX 5 iron through P.
Pros: Golf became fun again. The slight offset eliminated my fade. In fact, if I don't hit the ball straight it has a slight draw. The clubs are forgiving on mis-hit shots. I hit the 3 hybrid as well as I hit the 8 iron. The clubs are heavier than my old Pings and impart more distance to the ball with my slower swing speed. I now hit five iron between 150 and 160 yards. The ball has a high tragectory and do not roll much when they land. And many more of them land on the green. Oh, did I mention I do not automatically double bogey when I hit the 3 hybrid!
Cons: My short game initially took a beating because the Nickent heads were heavier. I spent several hours practicing 10, 20, 30 and 40 yard pitches at the high school practice fields. I was able to judge the flight for the shorter shots, but contiued to struggle with anything between 25 and 50 yards. I ended up buying a gap wedge and dropped my 5 wood. With that 3 hybrid, I did not miss a thing.
Quality: Top notch. I play a public course that will never be confused with Augusta National. There are some scratches on the bottoms of the clubs from normal wear. I don't know if that means they use softer steel, but I do know the ball sure comes off the face well. The paint and finish remains in excellent condition. The grips are showing some wear, but that is because I am playing more golf because I enjoy it more.

Review Summary: Buying these clubs was the best thing I ever did for my golf game. I am so lucky that I went to the demo day event because I had never heard of Nickent before that day. I went back to the demo day this year to check out fairway woods and am trying to find a way to convince my wife I need to spend $200 on a Nickent 4DX 3 wood.

Details: 3DX Irons with graphite shafts.

Purchase: I purchased the set from Carolina custom Golf in Winston Salem. Since I already owned the 2, 3 and 4 hybrids all I needed was the 5 through P wedge which was priced separately and can't exactly remember what I did pay.
Pros: As I said before, I like the hybrids so well I knew I would like the irons so I gave them a try. Based on the way they felt hitting them into the screne at the store I knew I could hit them well but didn't know how well until we went out side. So I purchased the set with the same graphite shafts as the longer hybrids. I'm now hitting the ball much straighter and a good club longer than with my fussion irons. The fussion set is basically the same club as far as looks and feel but different in performance. The biggest example of that would be the 3DX irons are about 10 yards longer per club with a more shock obsorbing feel on every shot. I also like the looks of these irons at set up and confident that each club will do the job. Having the same feel with each club in my bag has proved to be very effective. The hybrids are great and these irons are a must to finish out the set. I don't mind spending the money on a perfect set of clubs but didn't have to dig to deep in this case and I love that. Spending less and liking the product more feels even better. I consider these one of the Best values out there.
Cons: If there is a down side I haven't found it yet.
Quality: As for the construction. I like the way each club head has been fitted to the shaft. All lines are exactly the same with the graphics on the bottom of each club away from your view at set up. The feel of the grips are for me the best in golf. I don't know how but think it's hard to over grip them as I tend to do at times. They also seem to do fine when they get wet from sweaty hands.

Review Summary: All around great clubs and one that deserves your attention if your not happy with where your game is going. The distance is everything they say it is but the control is just as good. I would recommend it to anyone.
