On 2007-08-19, immigrantgolfer rated this Nickent 3DX Ironwood DC a 5...(7895)

Details: 14 deg, SR2 85g stiff flex shaft

Purchase: I was looking for a low lofted hybrid because at the time I could not hit a 3 wood to save my life. Did some research in golf magazines and decided to try out a Nickent. I went to Edwin Watts Golf in Nashville and tried it, liked it and bought it for $129-99.
Pros: At address the head looks solid, not too narrow like a lot of ironwoods and not too wide and heavy looking. Its very easy to hit straight shots, fades and draws all with a good degree of accuracy. I had always had trouble on those holes with a dog-leg left at about 190-220 yds from the tee (my natural shot is a slight fade) but with this club it is easy to hit a controlled draw into the dog-leg. Hitting from the ground is just as easy and in light rough the head slides through easily with hardly any drag.
Cons: I honestly can't think of anything I don't like about this club.
Quality: Well built, the shaft feels firm and looks good. This club also comes with other shaft options, one is the Aldila and the other I think is the UST, but the one I tried out had the SR2 and I liked it straight away.

Review Summary: An all around excellent club, appealing to the eye, good distance, easy control and relatively forgiving if you catch it off center. There are several more expensive utility clubs out there but I can't see that any of them would perform better than this one. If you are looking for a hybrid to replace long irons, or as in my case, fairway woods, I would thoroughly recommend that you give one of these a try.
