On 2004-10-12, Too_Bits rated this Nike Power Distance - Super Soft a 4...(4594)

Purchase: I bought a dozen of the Super Soft Nike balls at Golftown in Canada for $15 CDN because they were on sale.
Pros: I was playing the super soft balls as well as Titleist NXT balls on a round over the weekend. I found that the Super Soft balls were consistently straight as compared to the NXTs. On average, I shoot 100 so maybe this ball was just a little easier to control for my shooting. These balls have a great feel for chipping and putting. The price of these balls was very competitive and appealing. I don't even cry for too long when I launch one into the bush or pond.
Cons: I feel that the distance off the tee was less than the NXT balls. I also play Dunlop LOCO balls and find the distance of the Super Softs to be quite a bit less than the LOCOs (avg. 20-30 yards). I found the cover on the Nike ball scuffed easier than either the NXT or LOCOs (I'm not always landing on the nice grass, but rather take detours through trees, across cart paths, etc.)
Quality: The ball looks great when you pull it out of its sleeve, but it does scuff up pretty easy. I never had a problem with cutting the balls (I probably lost them before that happened). If you are concerned about how your ball looks after playing nine holes or so, you may end up changing your ball by then.

Review Summary: I feel that these balls are a pretty good ball for the money spent. For a buck and a quarter a ball, I don't think that you will go too far wrong with these balls. I am a fairly high handicapper and think that these balls helped keep me straight and on the short stuff.

Purchase: With my game, I can't justify buying $50 golf balls. So when I saw the Nike Power Distance balls for only $15 at Golfsmith, I figured why not.
Pros: Very soft balls. Nice roll around the greens. Approach shots are amazing. Reminds me of the old Wilson I-wounds. The ball really bites the green.
Cons: A couple years ago the secret about low compression balls got out. I've never played with any until now. Unfortunately the Super Softs, I believe, have a 65-compression rating. Way too soft. They stay on the driver face a bit too long. I noticed I hooked the ball more often with this ball than any other. And the distance off the tee seemed shorter as well.
Quality: Nice quality ball. Nothing special. They seem to scuff a little easier than other balls.

Review Summary: Too soft. I may not have a 100-mph swing, but I'm no slouch either. If you've got an average swing, go with a higher compression ball. I'll save my remaining Super Softs for the water hazard holes.
