Purchase: I am a college student in Austin, TX, so I am one to look for deals on golf balls. I am also an 11 handicapper so I like the bite of a urethane cover around the greens. I used to play the Nike TourAccuracy line but lost some distance because it is a 2-piece. GolfSmith had the TA2's in one of their "bargin bins" for $12.99/dozen. I tried them, knowing they were a 3-piece ball. Awesome ball. Pros: The 3-piece design allows for the distance of a 2-piece ball but the urethane cover allows for the required "bite" around the greens. The ball is just as long for me as a Pro V1 or a Pro V1x (which I will find around the courses b/c people who can afford that ball don't look for them if they lose them.) Not quite as much bite as a Pro V1/x but enough for what I need.
For $12.99/dozen, who can pass up a 3-piece, urethane cover ball? Cons: On my budget, I cannot afford to purchase a dozen of these balls for $29.00. (I will once I'm out of school.) Quality: 3-piece golf ball:
..urethane cover for stopping control around the green
..firm mantle layer for good energy transfer to the core
..soft core for long distance
Good ball! Review Summary: If you are looking for a ball in the $20-$30 range, this is it. Titleist has their NXT line in this range which is only a 2-piece ball and doesn't even have a urethane cover (which ALL top-of-the-line balls do.)
Great ball, especially if you find it for $12.99/dozen like I did.
