On 2006-11-18, David S rated this Nike Sasquatch a 5...(7526) Review Summary: Can't wait to get the 3 wood. If you can't hit this club then give up golf! On 2006-03-16, Flamio rated this Nike Sasquatch a 5...(6729) Review Summary: After hitting a few models I was interested in at the golf store I work at from time to time, I went in on an off night and gave my final two the concentrated tests. We all know Golf Digest had the Callaway X-18 as their Editors pick for 2006, and it's a nice FW, but, I liked two others better....I look most for feel, control, and distance. The X-18 looks cool, but for good distance, the Mizuno F-50 and the Nike Sasquatch are in a different league. At first I thought the Sasquatch had a real dead feel, but as I switched to a stiff Diamana shaft and put the pedal to the medal, it sounded great. When the F-50 is connected squarely, it has probably the best feel. But, I needed to chose the club that I averaged best with and hit the farthest and straightest consistently. the Sasq. has a 102mm face width, the F-50 has 97mm. On off center hits, I had more margin for error with the Saq. and it showed. I love the Diamana shaft in the Nike! My swing speed typically averages 95-99mph. Sometimes I'm over 115mph if I get my shoulders turned and hands turned over. When I got my swing over 95mph, the Nike felt like a controlled R shaft which felt great! Straight most of the time and very forgiving, and far. And, as a Golf Digest reviewer put it, 'it seems to just keep going'. He was right. After getting warmed up, I started hitting the Sasq. over 240+, and had one 260. In comparison, the F-50, was at best in the 240's once. Don't get me wrong, the F-50 is great, but the Nike was better, for me. I like the fact that it's wide and forgiving. I don't fear cranking one up! I like the look with the extended silver back. A simulator isn't always right, but, as some reviewers don't realize, it's fair to all clubs on the same day! On 2005-11-27, MOTiger rated this Nike Sasquatch a 5...(6444) Review Summary: With the exception of my putter (Titleist Futura Phantom) I carry an all Nike bag. I was eagerly awaiting the release date for the SQ driver, thinking there was a good change it would replace my Ignite. When I tested in the launch monitor at Golf Galaxy it was all I could do to get it out there around 240 or so. No matter what I tried, I simply could bring the numbers up. I then went to another place that offered the SQ that also had an outside range. Same thing. I don't know if it was me or the club, but I could not get the ball up in the air, nor could I get it out there with much distance, nor could I hit it straight. Not even close to my Ignite. Overall it was very disappointing. A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about my inability to hit a consistent 3-wood. Yesterday I went to Golf Galaxy anticipating that I would buy a Mizuno F-50 or Cleveland Launcher 3-wood. The most recent issue of Golf magazine had each of them rated very high, with the Mizuno getting a slight edge. The SQ fairway woods tested very poorly in virtually every category. I brought in my Ignite F-60 as a means of comparison. Nothing I did with the Mizuno or Cleveland was terribly exciting. For the most part, they were on par with my Ignite. Just for the heck of it, I decided to demo the SQ. I'm glad I did. From the word go this club rocked. The strength of my game is having a slow, rhythmic swing that is repeatable. My ss seldom registers over 100, but I am able to generate some power and distance through timing. For whatever reason, the SQ matched my swing to a tee. I struggled to get the anything about 235 with the Launcher or F-50, but with the SQ I was consistently getting them out there 250+. I topped it off with a 282 yard monster that I used my go-for-it-in-two swing. That's all I needed. I went out to the car and traded in my Ignite fairways for the SQ. (I also re-tested the SQ driver, and still couldn't hit the thing worth a damn.) As you know, hitting in a launch monitor and on the course are two different things. I can't tell you how many times I've hit a club well at the store, only to be disappointed with actual on-course performance. In fact, I have a basement full of putters that I couldn't miss with in the store, but couldn't roll a pea into the ocean when I got home. Not so with the SQ. Yesterday I did something that I had never done before. One of the holes on our course is a 530 yard Par 5. I've never been on in two. With a good drive I was 265 yards away. Having hit the SQ solid a couple of times already, I took it out of the bag, addressed the ball with a confidence I've never had before in a FW club, and knocked the ball to within 12 feet of the cup. I just missed the eagle, but is there anything sweeter in golf than a two putt birdie? It wasn't a fluke. On another par 5 when I was 275 from the green, I hit it to within 10 yards of the green. Birdied that one too. I know this may just be a honeymoon type deal, but one of the common themes in the responses to my previous thread was to find a club you had confidence in. I think I found it!
