Details: This review is for the forged cci iron set as opposed to their cast brothers. They are fitted with True Temper dynamic gold s300 shafts
Purchase: bought these irons at birdie golf in irvine, ca. great little mom and pop golf shop, specializing in japanese imports like bridgestone, miura, and fourteen, but also carry taylormade, callaway, and nike. great owners who are passionate about the game.
I paid 350 for the clubs which were brand new in all plastic. the owner even through in head covers. while i probably wouldn't have bought head covers for my irons, i've found them to be great since my irons no longer clang when i walk a round Pros: I was starting to outgrow my nickent 3dx redbacks. wanted something with less offset, narrower soles, thinner topline, and shorter blade length for workability. This fulfilled all of those requirements. at address, the ball sets up clean with no distractions. satin finish on the clubs is a nice touch from nike. cavity provides forgiveness as i'm not quite ready for blades. cavity insert positions weight perfectly behind the ball and just low enough to help get a bit more lift on the ball. forged soft steel provides great sound and feel through impact. dynamic gold shafts are tour proven.
ball flight is penetrating as you'd expect from a players iron. even without the offset i'm playing a slight a draw, but can easily command draws, fades and straight balls when needed. Cons: stock grip is a tour velvet ribbed grip. can't stand the ridge on the back. got them regripped before i even hit them on the range with round tour velvets (logo down...just my preference) Quality: superb. what else would you expect from a the company that makes the iron that won two majors in 2k9 Review Summary: great introductory players iron. really workable, just forgiving enough, and feel great. can't beat $350 for forged irons the pros play

Purchase: Bought them from www.gregnicholsongolf.co.uk for £450
I was looking for the Nike Slingshot Irons as i was terrible with irons and needed something to get the ball airbourne. Well, these irons were recommended to me, i got custom fitted for them and before i got them i was a 28 handicap, now i'm an 18 handicap. Enough said! Pros: These are THE best clubs i have ever hit.
I have actually hit the ball straight with the 7 iron before and looked at the ball mark on the club - it was right at the toe of the face and still the ball went straight, amazing!
When i was being custom fitted i hit Titleist 755 irons and was going to buy them, however for £150 less, i recommend the CCI irons. whilst they don't hit the ball as far as the Titleist 755 irons, they are higher and straighter. They also have a Tungsten insert on the base of each iron including the PW so on the rare occasion that you hit a bad shot, it doesn't vibrate up your arm. the PW is my favoutrite club in the bag. Anywhere within 100 yards of the green, i can land a PW within a 1 put of the hole which explains me moving from a 28 to 18 handicap in 3 months. the irons in general tend to spin the ball a lot also. Cons: The feel just isn't as good as the Titleist 755 irons. Not a lot of distance. Quality: Review Summary: Bought these irons for £450 and lowered my handicap by 10 in the space of 3 months! But if its distance you are looking for i suggest Titleist 755 irons. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to these irons i would also suggest MD Golf Tungsten TI irons. they are £250 and they hit further than the CCI irons whilst maintaining maximum forgiveness.
