On 2004-05-25, Neil D. rated this Odyssey DFX 9900 Putter a 5...(3688)

Purchase: Many years ago, I bought one of the first Odyssey insert putters, a Dual Force 220 or 330 something, and fell in love with it. Then, in an attempt to move my game into the 70's, I wandered into a Pro Golf Discount store and while looking at the new Titanium drivers tried the Odyssey DFX 9900 putter on their practice carpet. I immediately paid approximately $105 for it and haven't let go of it since.
Pros: Using a Jack Nicolas-type open stance, eyes two inches behind the ball setup, and pushing the ball toward the hole more than striking it, I sank the first 9 out of 10 tries from about 7-8 feet at the store. Since then, my average putts per hole has decreased to a phenomenal 1.7 in my last 10 rounds. Before, I used to panic outside of 3 feet as not being certain. Now, panic does not set in until I am a good 7-8 feet from the hole.
Cons: To date, I have not found a thing I dislike about this putter.
Quality: It's appearance and feel immediately fit for me, and I am assuming that it is of the same quality as my last Odyssey putter, which I still have and lasted very effectively for over 8 years.

Review Summary: Putting is made easy with this putter. You always have a feel that you are perfectly lined up. And, determining the distance seems to be more accurate. Because it is not very bulky or heavy, I haven't accidently stroked it by the hole more than 5 feet yet on a missed shot. If putting is causing you sleepless nights, and you aren't obligated to follow the latest 2-3-4-5 ball putter trends, then this putter is well worth a practice visit, and probably the investment.
