On 2002-07-24, -Rick Q., Van Nuys, CA rated this Orlimar hipTI Driver, 9.5 Degree a 5...(306)

Purchase: Cash, slightly used, Golf plus, Van nuys, CA, the price was ok, but the club felt awesome in the cage AND EVEN BETTER ON THE COURSE (after taking it out for a test spin, I couldn't say no) $185
Pros: It is a great club for mid- to high-speed swingers. It has a very forgiving face, and is so hot and thin (it is supposed to be the thinnest, hottest face according to Orlimar) the ball sparks off the clubface. The copper/tungsten weight chip in the bottom, back of the club head only enhances swing speed and low center of gravity, but is just closer enough to the hosel to prevent those totally slicing blows. I like to hit a Bruce Lietzke style drive, whereby you take out all trouble on the left by hitting a left to right fade, and I gotta tell ‘ya- I ain’t losin’ any distance when this babie takes off and even goes high due to spin. I’m still out there, smack dab in the middle of the fairway 9 times out of 10, at around 225-250! And this is at maybe 85% of my full swing speed!
Cons: (if you hit a straight ball or a natural draw, this club will fit you nicely if the former, but if the latter, it may have you punching the ball a bit left) [all assumptions for right handers, like myself]
Quality: It has Hot Isostatic Pressed titanium plate face, with titanium cast construction, patented copper-tungsten weight chip, and graphite shaft. The Fujikura shaft that Orlimar has partnered with, to include standard in the club, is a great mix of low torque and kick-point precision.

Review Summary: Mid- to low-handicappers should agree, this driver is one that you WON’T avoid putting in your bag, even on windy days or in tight fairways!!!
