On 2003-08-29, Andy the Addict rated this Orlimar Trimetal Plus 14 deg a 1...(2197)

Purchase: I purchased this one month ago from Golfbidder UK ( an addictive auction site, so much so that I have to have any purchases delivered to my business, so that my wife, will not find out ). I paid £49 sterling - about $75 US - an absolute bargain !!!
Pros: This club is the 14deg model with TT regular steel shaft, and maraging steel face. The shaft is probably stiffer than the firm graphite versions, so you can feel the head at all times. The extra hard face is very shallow and square set, making it easy to use from the fairway. When teeing off with it, I use a very short ( OK - broken wooden - I never buy them ) tee, to guard against moonshots. Do not use this club from heavy rough, you may as well use a sand wedge !!! Now for the important bit - DISTANCE 250 yds plus in ordinary conditions from both the tee and the fairway, and the sound is very distinct, a very sharp crack. The club is also very workable - place the ball back towards centre, take a nice easy swing with a slightly closed stance, and hit a controlled draw. Place the ball off the left heel from a straight to open stance, firm grip with the left hand, and watch the ball go straight to power fade. I play off about 8 and love the construction, finish and looks of this club. I wish that I had found this two years ago, before wasting money on Callaway and Wilson fairway woods.
Cons: There is nothing bad I can say about this club, except that I cannot find an Orlimar head cover to go with it.
Quality: The construction is beyond criticism - good tour velvet type grip, well known shaft, nicely finished head.

Review Summary: I now have a full set of Orlimar clubs - not that common in UK, and I am hitting the ball further and more accurately at 45 than I was twenty tears ago. I would particularly recommend tha Trimetal plus fairway woods for any golfer, because of their ease of use, and good value when compared against more popular brands. One note of warning though, if you do decide to buy from an auction site such as Golfbidder, it may be wise to seek professional help, in the form of Matrimonial experts, Debt Counselling and a good shrink. You have been warned !!!
