On 2005-06-23, Joe Golfer rated this Orlimar SF 302 a 4...(5717)

Purchase: I saw this set at a Golf Galaxy store in my area, and since I already have a nice set, I talked my nephew into buying them. His game is similar to mine, though a little longer and wilder. The price was too good to pass up, $99 dollars. The clubs were used, but they looked like mint condition; even the grips looked and felt new.
Pros: The blade length is mildly longer than standard, probably midlength, but with a lower profile than most. They are cavity backs, but have a nice muscle back in the lower part of the cavity. Offset is moderate to mild. Royal Precision shafts were the Precision Lite model, regular flex. Supposedly the irons have used three different grades of steel, harder in long irons, mid in the mid irons, and softer in the short irons.
Cons: Forgiving, but not as forgiving as some of the newer big headed models. Some may be turned off by the lower profile, but I don't think they should be.
Quality: Very good quality. I was amazed to find such a nice set in like new condition for such a low price. My nephew may own them, but since we sometimes play together, I have tried them several times on the course and the range. Exceptional feel to them.

Review Summary: The is a very good set for the mid-handicapper. Despite the low profile, they are not for high handicappers, as the offset is less than most high handicapper sets, and the cavity has that muscle pad in it for feel, but that reduces forgiveness. The amount of offset allows you to work the ball very well.
