On 2002-11-01, J Smith rated this PRGR 200i 2 iron (Driving iron) a 5...(743)

Purchase: Bought from a private seller on eBay for $135.00. It has an Aldila Tour (regular flex) shaft.
Pros: This is truly a remarkable club, once you get used to it. It is easy to hit off the tee and easy to hit off any lie. The thing to remember when hitting with this club is to swing easy, and not try to muscle the club. It makes a neat little "click" sound when stiking the ball. That too required getting used to, as it sounds as if the ball is not going anywhere. When you look up after hearing that muted sound you will be suprised at the distance. I hit it 230 off the tee and about 215 off the turf. The ball flight has a nice arc and it lands softly. You can move the ball in your stance and get a low burner, but the distance stays the same.
Cons: I like everything about the club now. At first, the look of the club was strange to me when I lined up. The club looks much thicker than a regular 2 iron. Somehow I convinced myself to think of it as a skinny 3-wood. Once I did that, the club felt more comfortable, and the results were impressive. The only problem the club has caused is with my bag. I hit it almost as far as my Orlimar Plus 14 degree, and I love my Orlimar.
Quality: As high a quality a club as I've ever seen. The club already had an Aldila "Tour" shaft on it, so I don't know about the stock shaft. I will say I'm very impressed with the Aldila. This particular club was supposedly owned by Brian Watts, British Open runner-up. My understanding is that it was he who reshafted the club. I think now he plays the newer 040i version of this club.

Review Summary: This club was between $350-$400 dollars when it came out. The quality cetainly shows. The 200i is easy to hit, and it takes a pretty bad swing to get it to do any thing but go straight. If you are interested in this club, look on eBay. Every once in a while they sell a very reasonable price, and anybody can hit this club. The first time I used it off the tee on a very tight par-4, I was quite pleased with the result. My friend quietly uttered,"Helllloooo GOLF". I think anyone who tries this club will be quite pleased also.
