On 2004-10-08, Steve Backart rated this Ping G2 Driver 10 degree Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue R flex a 5...(4575)

Purchase: Complement to / replacement for Ping SI3 380. Higher trajectory ball flight. Golf Galaxy $299.
Pros: Long and straight with Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue shaft. Head is a nice, contemporary design ... more mainstream than recent Ping drivers at a great list price of $299.
Cons: Head perhaps a bit too large at "the max" 460 CC (slows down head speed a bit).
Quality: Excellent.

Review Summary: On a honeymoon with this driver. Once I got past the need to tee it higher, it's 5-10 yards longer than my Ping SI3 380. The sound is more hollow than my SI3 when hit ("pong" versus the SI3's "click"). Overall performance superior to the Taylor Made R7 Quad I've been demoing. this is a great value in the latest drivers; Ping has it right this time!
