On 2005-03-15, mr_divots rated this Ping G2 Grafalloy Prolaunch a 5...(5193)

Purchase: Age: 29, Handicap: 7.1 $299 the going rate @ Golf Galaxy. Traded in my Ping Si3 380 and a wedge I wasn't using to lessen the "ouch." I wanted to get fit using launch monitor technology so I know I have the best set up for me possible. Got fit with their PGA pro on the Vector launch monitor (free of charge with purchase.)
Pros: Very long and straight. Got the 8.5º head combined with the higher launch and lower spin of the Grafalloy Proluanch. Swing speed 107MPH, launch angle: 15º, backspin: 2750 RPM. Carry avg: 267 Hit it at the golf dome that night, and it is strong! Winter won't go away here in MN yet, but I have the numbers to know this club will be as long as anything I can hit. Gained 14 yards over my 983K w/ Titleist speeder. That one launched at only 12º for me. Its all about the right shaft and head combo!
Cons: The headcover is the cheapest I have ever seen! No shaft protection and barely fits on the head. I thought they had given me the wrong cover at first!
Quality: So far, so good. My ping irons have been solid for 3 seasons now, no problems. Their customer service has been helpful when I have had questions.

Review Summary: Great club. The thing I took away from my fitting is that without a proper fitting, you have no idea of the potential a club may have for you. I think if I put a lower kickpoint shaft into my 983K, it would be just as long. .830 COR is .830. The sweet spot is larger and more forgiving with the G2, however, and well worth the upgrade. Love the feel, and can't wait for the upcoming season!
