On 2003-07-23, Jase rated this Ping Si3 8* a 5...(1867)

Purchase: I purchased this product through Edwin Watts magazine for $330. The driver runs at $430 at Edwin Watts, but they matched the price of TGW.com.
Pros: When i first got the driver, i was scared that i got to low of loft. I did go to ping's web site and did their club fitting test and it said that 8* was right for me. I could barely get the ball off the ground for about 1 or 2 weeks. It turns out that i just wasn't putting the ball far enough up in my stance. Once i started hitting the ball when it was up in my stance, the ball catapulted off the face. Now i cannot say enough about this driver. It is well worth the money.
Cons: Well, i did not like the trajectory at first, but now that i play the ball up in my stance, i can't find any flaws with this club.
Quality: Ping has made a solid club. I have had a bad history with drivers. I have broken 4 in the past two years with drivers ranging from the first Callaway Big Bertha to Snake Eyes Aer Met Hot Steel to 2 Liquidmetals. The drivers were all broken on clean hits (they did not touch the ground). The Si3 feels solid and so far does not have a scratch, crack, or ding anywhere. I was happy with the shaft too, it is a solid stock shaft.

Review Summary: Once you find out how to hit the club, it will travel far, stay straight, and feel consistantly solid. Definately worth the money.
