On 2004-02-16, Mike from Taiwan rated this Ping Si3 9* Fujikura Speeder S Flex a 5...(2847)
Purchase: I got this driver from a local pro shop at the driving range I go to. At the time of the purchase, I was already looking for a new driver to replace my existing Titleist 975 J 7.5* w/ Fujikura Vista Pro 70 shaft. After couple of demo hits, I was sold. This driver is much more forgiving than any other driver I have tested. Very well build and balanced. I bought the driver (Feb. 2004) for about $390 USD.
Pros: My swing speed is about 110 mph. With a solid swing, I usually hit about 250-260 yards of the tee. What I like about the Si3 is that the clubhead, at 380cc, sets up really nicely behind the ball. The forged titanium face is very solid in construction. The overall balance with a 60g Fujikura Speeder stock shaft is just right for my swing. It has a mid to low kick point with a higher torque to generate a good ball trajectory. On a harder swing, my ball tend to fade a little right with the other drivers I have had. But this club tends to correct that. I was very impressed with the consistency of the drives I have had thus far. All in all, the Ping Si3 driver is a great club that many should find enjoyable to play with.
Cons: I don't know about you, but chipping in just about $400 USD for a golf club runs pretty steep in my book. On the other hand though, the way I see it is that whatever you decide to purchase has to be worth the value in comparison to the other choices on the market at the time of the purchase. As for me, I had tried out other clubs such as the Titelist 983K, Cleveland Laucher 400, King Cobra SS Tour..and etc. While other considerations may be less expensive, but if you are not fully satisfied with the club you've purchased, chances are you will switch to another club in the near future.
Quality: I have never owned a Ping club prior to this driver. But now I can honestly say that Ping is highly reputable in the golf business for good reason. The quality and construction are both well made and technologically advanced.
Review Summary: Sweet club!!
