Purchase: I was given this great set by my father-in-law as a gift.
Pros: They are are terrific and still hold up great years later! They offer me a lot of room for mistakes! Definitely reccomend if you can get you hand on a used set!
Cons: The grips seemed to wear out a little quicker than I expected.
Quality: Overall great construction! Very high quality!

Review Summary: I definitely reccomend these irons to any golfer at any level!

Purchase: I acquired these clubs new around 1986, and have used the heads since, having replaced the grips and several of the shafts over time.
Pros: I have used stiff steel shafts, which I like. The long irons are easy for me to work with, and all of the Ping Eye 2 irons have a decent sweet spot.
Cons: The biggest drawbacks to the Ping Eye 2 irons in my opinion are that the clubheads have to me what feels like a high center of gravity by today's standards, and also have very thick leading edges, which to me reduces the accuracy of the club, or at least the feel of accuracy. The tactile sense I have always had with these clubs is that they are high quality but lack touch when compared with a blade design.
Quality: The construction of the Ping Eye 2 irons is of a uniformly high standard, yet over time, the proliferation of quality manufacturers has rendered these clubs into what I would consider a fairly average cavity-back design. There is nothing fancy about these clubs, and they do not justify a price premium over other models.

Review Summary: The Ping Eye 2 irons were extremely popular in the 1980s. Like alot of other things from the 80s, they haven't held up to the new millenium. My recommended club for now is the Lynx CST-1. By comparing one of these clubs against the Eye 2s, which I did, I was able to see why golf has experienced a renaissance in part due to today's better equipment. If you're into brand names or retro, the Pings are a good set--just not great. I usually play better out of a demo bag, myself.
