Details: It keeps finding its way back into my life...it is huge..it is ackward to look at...it really is a pain to fit into the bag..but it is the smoothest putter...most stable...and solid feel.

Purchase: $40 shipped...seem to be coming down in cost
Pros: The results are fantastic, easy to swing, smooth action and no twist what so ever
Cons: The size as it sits in the bag...you have to have the cover or it will bang your graphite shafts
Quality: It is a PING

Review Summary: A deal and a great addition to the set.

Purchase: Acquired this putter at my local pro shop. Set out one day to buy a putter and saw this one and the tri-ball SRT (Oddysey). Tried about 10 to 12 10 footers with the Doc 17-only missed three, and by that time, I had never really practiced putting. The same day, tried the Tri-ball SRT and it felt too heavy compared to the Doc 17.
Pros: The size just gives you great confidence. Caddies at my club joke around that with this size, there's just no way of taking your eyes off the ball-putter, therefore, less mis-hits.
Cons: The alignment line seems too small on this model. I took tke idea from the smaller models (Doc 12.5 and Doc 15) to increase this line and complete it all the way to the back. With the help of a friend, we delicately spray-painted the lower part of the middle extension, complementing the alignment aiding line, which to me improves drastically your alignment as far as lining of putts is concerned.
Quality: Very good construction. When you see it, you might think it's pretty heavy because of its size. Only when you grab it you realize it's lighter than most, if not all, putters I've tried.

Review Summary: Great putter. When you use it you feell very confident of putting, although you have to get used to it because of its size and weight. After using this putter, I've never three-putted any holes in my club/course.

Purchase: I paid $200.00 for it at Golf Galaxy. I thought my friends would laugh at me, but when they tried it they headed to thier favorite stores to get one. I don't have the yips anymore, and have all kinds of confidence. I still bend over to try to putt with claw grip, but then remember the successes, and putt with normal grip. It is SUPER!
Pros: The feel is outstanding, and the balance is perfect.
Cons: I can't pick up a golf ball with it, but with my gut, I should bend more often.
Quality: This club is worth $200.00. It is quality in design, and will encourage other companies to build similiar putters. Ping is always ahead of others.

Review Summary: BUT ONE >>>>YOU'LL SEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Purchase: Local golf outlet store $180
Pros: The face is so large it's hard to miss the sweet spot. I can also see the face on my back swing through my perifrial vision and this helps me to keep the club straight.
Cons: It's so big it takes up alot of space in the bag. It's bound to get banged around more than it's fair share.
Quality: Constructuion is top notch. The Winn grip is excellent. Provides a firm tacky feel.

Review Summary: This is the best $180 I have ever spent on golf. My first round I canned a couple of 25 foot puts, and just lipped out a 40 footer. I didn't miss anything inside 10 feet. Every put was pure and strainght.

Purchase: I purchased this slightly used club from Ebay for $149.
Pros: First of all, I know that the trouble with my putting lies with the puttee, and not the putter. I have some basic flaws in my stroke that have held me back from becoming a much better player. Having said that, I can say that the Doc 17 is the best putter I've used. Though it looks more like a snowshoe than putter, it does provide a stable, solid feel at contact time-after-time. Given its sheer bulk it is much more manueverable than it would appear. It especially has helped me on the drawback, where I have had a bad case of the wiggles.
Cons: I would admit the appearance is somewhat offputting, but I don't think any more so that those putters mounted on the end of pole vault poles. I have noticed that there are some small chips developing on the face of the putter, but that could have more to do with its previous owner. It also takes up more room in the bag than a traditionally sized putter
Quality: Construction seems to be fine, though I'm watching to see if the chipping on the face gets much worse. The cover with a magnetic clip does a good job protecting the club.

Review Summary: There are mechanical flaws in my stroke that no putter can correct. However, the putter that has come closes to masking these flaws is the Doc 17. I have made more longer putts with Doc than any of my five previous putter combined. It also has given me more confidence in making those 3-5 foot round makers/breakers. It also fared very well in a recent review done by Golf Magazine where they tested about 50 putters. If I'm not mistaken, it came out #2 on the list behind Nike's new Oz putter (which I also have, and can't make a thing with). The Doc won't make a bad putter a good one, but it will do just enough to keep you in most rounds.

Purchase: Bought in England at letsbuygolfkit after I saw it in commercials etc - a well designed putter I just had to have! Paid 150£ - it better be good at that price!
Pros: Going out on the 1. round with the putter, I was afraid that the design of it would destroy my focus on the putting. What happend ? Well I used 31 puts with no one of theese nasty 3-putters and I had five 1-puts - the longest put sinked was about 7 meters! The putter is VERY well balanced and you have this feeling "I cant miss this put", when you line it up. I strongly advice you to but this putter - and normally im not a big fan of ping, but this baby does the job!
Cons: I think you will get a lot of comments from your playing partners because its so unlike all the other putters on the market! But in the future some of them will buy one too!
Quality: Perfect quality - the magnetic headcover is a wonderful gimmick, that increases the high quality feeling.

Review Summary: Some people use their last savings on a driver that outdrives the old one with 3 yards! In the bag they have a old piece of metal, that used to be a putter. In my world, its smarter using money on a REALLY good putter - and the Ping Doc 17 could/should be this one. I have also tried the DFX-2ball - also a very nice putter, but in my opinion it can´t keep up with the Doc.

Purchase: While in Puetz Golf Shop, in Seattle, I was looking at a two ball odyssey, which I like. I picked up the Ping DOC 17 because it was so unusual looking. Right away it felt well balanced and I couldn't let it go. So for a 179 George Washingtons it was mine.
Pros: Because of the size, balance and easy alignment there is a natural tendency to stroke the ball as opposed to "popping" the ball.
Cons: I haven't figured out how to pick up the ball with the putter head so I don't have to bend over. But, I can't get my driver to tee the ball up for me either.
Quality: Even in this world of abstract designed putters, this one is strange, but the quality is top notch, including the head cover.

Review Summary: I've only played a couple of rounds with this putter, but I can tell you, it will eliminate a lot of three puts and help get a lot of ups, down. As soon as you see one of these in your golf shop, pick it up and mess around with it. If you purchase it and your putting doesn't improve, purchase another one and use them for snow shoes.

Purchase: bought at golf galaxy for 200, A bit pricey but for something this new and this good, yeah its worth it.
Pros: Everything, if your inside 10 feet it is almost impossible to miss. bought it and first time out putted atlest two each hole but 1 putted most holes. its SOOOOO good, worth the bucks.
Cons: nothing, Its a putter ahead of its time
Quality: incrdible, but owuld you expect anything diffrent form ping?

Review Summary: buy it you ownt regret it.
