Details: orange dot, 34 inch
Purchase: I had the Odessey #5 and found I really didn't like the mallet style. Got fitted for the Ping and have been happily using it for 2 full seasons. Bought it for about $100 at Golf Galaxy. Pros: This is a simple club with a very clear alignment line. It does not have a lot of 'stuff' added for alignment help. The balance and feel are excellent. Cons: Nothing to not like Quality: As with all Ping (and Cleveland and Callaway and Mizuno) products, this is top notch in quality. Review Summary: I have been looking at many other putters to see if there is anything better out there. Golf Digest 'Hot' selections include the Ping Redwood and the G5i. Neither, or the other brands for that matter, are better clubs than the G2i. They are available now at good prices and I highly reccomend this club.

Purchase: I recently bought it for $120 at Bass Pro Shops Golf Shop. I love the feel. Much better feel than the Odyssey insert putters in my opinion. Pros: Everything. period. Cons: none so far Quality: Unbeliveable. It's Ping. Enough said. Review Summary: Great putter. Would recommend to anyone. On 2004-03-15, MN_mike rated this Ping G2i Anser a 4...(3093)
Purchase: Tried it in store at Austad's Golf. This putter line was recently named to Golf Digest's "Hot List" for 2004, and I wanted to see what it was all about. They are asking $115.99 for these. Pros: Classic blade design that is imitated time and time again. Nice balanced feel. The new Winn grips have a nice tackiness to them. Very soft feel with the blue insert. Single sight line on the flange for easy alignment. Cons: I would have to try this out on different speeds of greens to get an idea if I really like the insert. I just traded in a Taylor Made Nubbins putter because it was too spongy on long putts, and too slow on slow greens. I wonder if this insert would suffer from the same ailment? I have moved away from urethane inserts (with the exception of Odyssey's DFX) because of their unpredictable nature on long putts. Quality: Very nice. Nothing too ground breaking, though. As with all insert putters, the test of time will show if the insert is durable. Review Summary: A nice quality putter with classic lines that has come to be known as the standard bearer for modern design. I might tend to go with the G2 Anser (no insert) and get the same great putter without the questions of insert distance accuracy and save some cash in the process. Try it out, if you're a fan of insert putters, this is a winner!
