Purchase: A buddy of mine who plays to a 3 handicap gave me one of these puppies one day and asked me to take it for a whirl. He ussualy spanks his drives 25 yards past mine. Not any more! I bought a 2 dozen value pack at Golf Town for $35. incl. taxes. You do the math.. $1.45 a ball instead of $5. for a Prov1 !!! They normally sell for $30. a dozen which is still a bargain compared to Titliest. Pros: Goes like stink off the tee. Low compression which means that you don't have to swing out of your shoes to smoke these suckers. Added about 20 yards to my drives and still holds greens very nicely with short irons and wedges. I thought that with a 2 piece ball that I would miss alot of fairways due to added spin but that wasn't the case at all. When it comes to durability, these things are relentless. I can easily play a round with one ball as long as I don't park one in the pond. Cons: They aren't as soft as other expensive multi layered balls and therefore lack the soft putting feel. After a couple of rounds, you'll get used to it and forget how to spell Prov1. I very rarely don't break 80 and i'll never spend $5 for a golf ball again. Quality: 2 Piece Low Compression (70)
Very durable, doesn't scuff easy
Made by same company as Titliest
Exact same specs as the NXT Review Summary: Bottom line is that if you are a scratch golfer, you can pound a multi layer ball 300 yards and you have the financial means, then knock yourself out with the Prov1. Otherwise this is the ball for you.

Details: basic white round ball.
Purchase: I got a few free sleeves at a demo day Pros: This is a pretty good ball for the price range. Nice soft feel, and good distance. Feels good when putting or chipping. Cons: Not enought spin around the greens if you play firm greens. Quality: Very good quality balls. Held up well for 18 holes or more. Review Summary: If you're looking for a soft ball with good distance, and fight eithe a hook or slice, this ball might be a good fit. With less spin, it should help with that slice or hook. It holds up well, so it's a good ball for the money. Feels nice and soft, about the same as a good tour quality ball. On 2006-03-29, J. Wilson rated this Pinnacle Exception a 5...(6751)
Details: Pinnacle Exception
Purchase: I bought these at Wal-mart... was looking for a cheaper brand that would compare with the Pro V1...I believe they were $19.00 Pros: Truly, I like these better than the Pro V1 because they seem to get 10-15 yards more off the tee shots, and they spin just as well. Also, you get a lot of feel with the short game with this ball. Cons: Nothing Quality: SUPER- ball doesn't cut easily so one ball with last a whole round. Review Summary: This ball is super accurate and long- WHat's not to love?? And my wallet is a lot bigger after purchase. I do have a hard time finding this ball, it usually is sold out, so if you come across them surely give them a try. I've been using them about a month and have shot my best scores using the Exception. Also, I was looking to give my game a boost and bought an instruction golf manual a friend had recommmended. It's called Amazing Golf and I bought mine at shootamazingolf.com I paid $19.00 for the book- it really has helped drop my handicap along with these Pinnacles!!!! Purchase: Originally picked up a sleeve of 2 to try. I was looking for something with feel and distance that didn't cost as much as a car payment. The guy at the shop suggested the exception and said he had gotten good feedback. I was a little suspicious because pinnacle has been known for making rocks that look like golf balls. Pros: The feel when putting is incredibly soft, while the distance is consistently long. The price averages $18.00 for 12. I play with some guys that will only play with the Pro V1, so I placed the 2 side by side with markings down and had them putt. Out of 4 one got it right only because he was guessing after the other 3 were wrong. Cons: I can't hit where I want every time? Quality: They do start to scuff a little quicker than other balls I have played, but that would be expected with the way the ball feels. Review Summary: Try them you won't be sorry. Unless you have so much money you just like playing the ball the pro's play. Remember they get them for free? On 2005-04-21, Dink rated this Pinnacle Exception a 5...(5430)
Purchase: I have purchased this ball various ways, starting with a promo 2-pack costing 2 dollars up to a dozen costing $17.95 at leading national sports retailers. Pros: I have always played Pinnacle balls and was happy to see their advancement into a long but softer design. I shoot anywhere from even par to low 80's on a bad day. I play beside friends using the much more expensive Pro-V's and must say that often my ball is holding greens and "sucking back" when theirs are not. I do have a high but penetrating ball flight which helps, but its obvious to me that if these balls are struck correctly, the difference in green holding compared to a Pro-V is negligable. They are durable and value-priced. Cons: The only place I feel this ball is inferior to the Pro-V is on short chips around the green. The Pro-V's do seem to perform a little better, but just as you tailor shots for other course situations, so can you for this ball around the green. Play them regularly and this isn't an issue. Quality: Top notch Review Summary: This is the best ball on the market for the dollar. Those of you who want very, very, very near Pro-V performance at a fraction of the cost should give these Exceptions a try. Often referred to as the "Poor man's Pro-V", if your into impressing people just because of the name on your ball, then go ahead and spend 3 times more for Pro-V's, its your money. This is the only ball for me and I see no reason to spend so much more for such a small increment of performance (Law of Diminishing Returns). Purchase: local shops, $14.99 for 12 Pros: real soft, real long, you can spin them and control them as much as a prov1, but for 25 bucks less Cons: nothing Quality: great feel, thin outer layer Review Summary: i know, it's a pinnacle On 2004-08-23, atojoe rated this Pinnacle Exception a 4...(4127)
Purchase: Bought a sleeve of 4 at a local golf course pro shop at around $6.00. Pros: Ball seems to be very consistant as far as I can tell. I have just started playing seriously and previously have played with comparibly priced golf balls. This ball seems to add distance most notable to my iron play.
Cons: Like I said, I have just started playing consistantly. However, I have noticed that other balls seem to have a better ability to check on the green. Quality: The balls look nice and have a nice arrow which I use to line up putts. Review Summary: Great ball for me right now. As my experience grows and ability strenghens I may switch but I'll keep using them until I determine it will be beneficial to me. Purchase: I received a three ball sleeve at a local Golf Shop free of charge as a part of a radio station promotional. Pros: The ball is very long at least a club to two clubs longer than any other ball I have used this season. I have been playing Locos by Dunlop and Top Flite XL 3000. Cons: I dislike absolutely nothing about the Pinnacle Exception. I had heard bad things about this companies golf balls being too hard or don't stop on the greens but I did not experience anything remotely like that. I would highly recommend them to anyone eanting more distance and a soft feel off the clubface. Quality: The quality seems good. I reserve judgement on this aspect of the product until I have had the opportunity to use this ball for a couple more rounds. Review Summary: I am going to go out this afternoon and buy a dozen or two of these long, straight golf balls by Pinnacle. My search for the perfect soft core golf ball is over. This beats Titleist SoLo, Dunlop Loco, Dunlop DDDh Buttery Feel and Top Flite XL 3000. buy this ball! You won't be sorry. On 2004-07-19, Tiger12Be rated this Pinnacle Exception a 5...(3909)
Purchase: This is a follow up to my earlier review. I shot the best round I have every played yesterday....a 38-37=75. I used this ball the whole round. I previously posted that this ball does not spin. Well, for the most part, that is correct. However, what I found out yesterday is that this ball will SPIN LIKE A YO-YO when hit out of the sand!!! I hit 2 traps yesterday (one fairway bunker and one greenside). The fairway bunker shot was about a 100 yd shot that I hit a 56* SW from. I struck it perfectly, the ball landed about 6 feet behind the pin and spun back to about 2 feet for a tap in birdie. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that ball dancing up there on the green!
The greenside bunker shot I hit was on the 18th hole. I pushed a 5 iron to the far left side of the green. The pin was back left, so I left myself about a 10 yard sand shot. Another perfectly struck shot and the ball skipped once, then checked up hard right next to the hole. Again, I couldn't believe what I was seeing!! I can normally make a Pro V1 stop dead in its tracks off grass with my LW/SW, but not the Exceptions. Out of the sand is a whole different story though! Pros: Cons: Quality: Review Summary: I'll be buying a few dozen of these the first chance I get!! On 2004-07-18, Tiger12Be rated this Pinnacle Exception a 5...(3901)
Purchase: I bought a sleeve of these for $4.50 at a local course. I had just had a swing analysis done a couple of days earlier and found that the reason I couldn't get any distance from my Pro V1 or Hogan Apex was due to the fact that my driver spin is WAY too high for those balls. I use a Cleveland Launcher 400 9.5* driver with a swing speed of ~106 mph. I currently play to around a 9-10 handicap. The PGA pro I worked with told me that I needed to try a 'harder' ball that doesn't spin as much. I saw good reviews on this website, so thought 'what the hell...I'll go against all my principles and try it out.' (Those of you who detest Pinnacle, Top Flite, Slazenger, etc...etc... know exactly what I mean!) Pros: Well, let me begin by just saying.....WOW! HOLY @^#&!!! and OH MY GOD!!!!.
This ball is, distancewise, untouchable (unless you want to play an illegal ball...and even then I'm not sure you could match this thing!). I was thoroughly and totally SHOCKED by how long this ball is. The very first drive I hit was a 290 yd bomb straight down the middle of the fairway. I thought, 'this is too good to be true!'. The next driving hole was a 340 yd par 4. My tee shot ended up about 25 yards from the green...in the fairway. I can honestly say that this ball has added about 30+ yards of distance to my drives. I used to drive it about 265-280. It's an awesome thing to watch this ball soaring off the driver! It is also one of the softest feeling 'distance' balls you will ever hit. Feels like a marshmallow, but flies like a Patriot missile! I'm hooked! Cons: Now, to the downside....and yes, there is a downside. When you are used to playing performance balls like the V1 and Apex, you expect your short pitch shots to check up and stop on command. While the extra distance is a wonderful thing, this ball has no concept of spin off of a wedge! I will say though, that I hit a couple of lob wedges from 100 yards out that landed as softly as a butterfly and stuck about 5-6 inches from where it hit. After two shots in particular, I came to the conclusion that you cannot spin these things back for anything! It will take some getting used to but I think I can live with this problem. I'll just have to start attacking pins directly instead of trying to land it behind the pin and waiting for that 2-8 foot spin back.
The other thing that will take some getting used to is trying to determine which club to hit. I swear these things have made me club down a full club because of the extra distance I get! I played a 6 iron on a 175 yd par 3 and AIR MAILED THE GREEN! Quality: I was impressed by the quality and construction of these balls. I hit a few full lob/sand wedge shots and pinched the heck out of the ball. I expected to see groove marks all over the ball....nothing!! Not even a stinkin scratch!! These things are tougher n' nails! Review Summary: Bottom line: an awesome ball that you just have to try out. Yes, you'll DEFINITELY give up some control around the greens but it's a small price to pay for being able to outdrive your playing buddies by 40 yards!!! :)
Oh, and the price is incredible too! Less than half the cost of a box of V1's! On 2004-05-07, immigrantgolfer rated this Pinnacle Exception a 4...(3602)
Purchase: Bought a dozen from Walmart because they were on sale at $14.95 and they promised to be long, and softer than you would normally expect from a pinnacle ball. Pros: They fly long and straight off the tee, they are softer than the other pinnacle balls I have tried (it doesn't feel like you are hitting a rock!), and they stop on the green! Cons: As a high handicapper looking for an affordable ball which flies straight off the tee and stops on the green, there was not much about this ball that I didn't like. Quality: Strong, durable covers, even survived a full on cart path bounce off the driver with no apparent damage. Review Summary: Like I said, I am a high handicapper and I was looking for a ball with little side spin, so I could hit it pretty straight with my driver and this ball fits that requirement. This ball gave me more control with my irons than I am used to from the old pinnacle rocks. If you are looking for a distance ball that retains a bit of control around the green, give it a try. Purchase: I bought the Pinnacle Exceptions at the local golf club. I've always been a Die-hard Pinnacle fan and these balls didn't let me down. I paid $6.50 for 4. Pros: Long, Straight, and soft on the green. Anything anybody could ask for from a ball. This has to be one of the top three balls I've ever hit(Pinnacle Power Core Soft, ProV1x's). Cons: Don't get a lot of spin, but roll very nicely.
Quality: Very durable, don't ever scuff, takes a hit and keeps rolling! Review Summary: This is one of my favorite balls. It hits well rolls well and hasn't bounced off the green yet! The ball is a little pricy - over a buck a ball, but its well worth it if you want to improve your game. On 2004-02-10, P.J. Evans rated this Pinnacle Exception a 5...(2782)
Purchase: I'm always looking for a great little ball, without spending too much money. I think I've found it! While browsing a golf store, the salesman recommended the "Pinnacle Executive". I was skeptical, Pinnacle has been traditionally known as making 'rocks'. Then another customer added he tried them and loves them. Well, for $19.95 a dozen, its worth a shot! Pros: This ball travels well. The roll is much better than the other 'soft' balls I've played. It stayed true during flight off the driver and responded well from my irons. Can't really comment on holding power, as it's winter and difficult to stop a ball this time of year. But, it did check up better than the Srixon 'Soft-Feel' and the Titleist "So-Lo" I usually play. Cons: I didn't find anything I dislike about this ball, but I've only gone through a sleeve so far, which means it is pretty durable. I've played with the same ball for two rounds, which is pretty good for a guy who skips off the cart path, every now and then, and has kissed a ball off enough tree's to qualify for a lumberjack's license. Seriously though, it took a beating and was still very playable. Something you can't say about all of the 'soft' balls out there. Quality: The ball is a two piece design, and as you read above - is very durable. Additionally, the design on the ball has a little logo, that is similar to an comet with a tail - and it's pretty useful for aligning the ball when putting. Review Summary: Overall, I've found a new ball for my game. It might not suit everyone, but for a guy with a 88-94mph swing, a decent overall game (mid to low 80's) and who occasionally leaves the fairway - it does the trick. I can't brag about gaining any new monsterous yardage, but the ball seemed to travel farther for me. The feel was awesome, control was better than average and it spun well. I'd say give them a try, it's under $20 a dozen - and a steal at that price. On 2003-10-26, JB rated this Pinnacle Exception a 5...(2491)
Purchase: Bought the promo 2 pack to test this ball. Store owner said he had three club pros in this area try these and they came back the next day to buy 2 dozen each. Pros: This ball is amazing. I wanted a longer ball off the tee with a soft feel off short irons and on the green.
LONG- I didn't gain 10-20 yards, I gained up to 40-50! The ball hits the ground and rolls forever. And the amazing this is that the ball seems to stay straight as an arrow.
I heard this is a variation of the Titleist NXT Tour (enlarged core with softer cover) and this ball is longer and softer than the NXT. Cons: I tried to find something I did not like about the ball (never liked any other Pinnacle). Does not check up like a ProV, but if you create spin off your short irons, you won't notice a lot of difference. Quality: Constuction seems excellent. Putts true throughout the round, stays with the soft feel. Review Summary: Before this I loved the Laddie, ProV and NXT Tour. This ball is now the only ball in the bag. Lower compression for slower swing speeds (85). You won't believe what this ball can do for you.
