Purchase: I am part of a recently culminated test program of the pippo si86 Sand Wedge lasting one year. The pippo si86 is the first new concept in sand wedges since Gene Sarazen invented the first one 70 years ago by modifying a pitching wedge. The very first thing ALL people say having taken their first swing with the pippo si86 Sand Wedge is, "Wow, that feels great." This club will probably retail for $129.00
Pros: The main thing I like about it is that one does not need to learn the difficult inside out swing to produce the "flop shot". The pippo si86 lays up to the ball naturaly and your regular 9 iron swing will definately do the job. The si86 surfs through the sand rather than blasts through it allowing for greater feel for the shot which definately induced muscle memory in me of the sand shot, something I never achieved with the old conventional sand wedge. I also think the club is very attractive which makes owning one rather special. The pippo si86 is a wonder club in the rough. It outshines all other wedges in this respect, bar none. The si86 design will allow for working the ball should one desire. The professionals and low handicap players that have tried the pippo si86 find that this wedge is not just for hackers that can't get out of bunkers with the conventional sand wedge. They see it as the design for the future that will be adopted by others and become the new standard.
Cons: What's not to like?
Quality: The pippo si86 Sand Wedge is made of 431 stainless steel. It comes with a graphite shaft to reduce impact telegraphing back up ones arms. It has a slightly fatter grip allowing for a softer grip on the club. The pippo si86 is USGA approved. Everything about it is top quality.

Review Summary: Some sand wedges can get US design patents. However, the pippo si86 sand wedge was also granted a Utility Patent, signifying that the US Patent Office considers it a new concept. The pippo si86 Sand Wedge goes on sale later this year, watch for it, you'll be thrilled at the performance.
