On 2004-07-26, Matt Dessecker rated this PowerBilt Citation II Irons a 5...(3941)

Purchase: -I bought these because I was borrowing a friend's Tommy Armour 845's when I started golfing. I liked the 845's, but when I tested the Citation's there was no comparison. The way the cavity is made, with the excess metal at the toe, helped my slicing problem. When I swing them, I can feel the toe of the iron close near impact. -I do believe I got a great deal on this set. I've seen them online ranging anywhere from $149-$229 a set. I got them on clearance for $65!! How can you beat that without stealing them?
Pros: -The way they help with my slicing problem is wonderfull. They set up well, and I like that they aren't a "clone" of another company. Also the shafts are slighty oversized. The entire club just has the look of quality and durability to it. -I'm not the type of person who has to have the "most poular" equipment that everyone else just has to have. I kind of march to my own drum. If I don't like it, I don't care who makes it, or how good a deal I can get.
Cons: -The only thing I'd change on them is the grips. Right now they have the factory ribbed type, rubber grips that you see on a lot of clubs. Although they're decent, I think I'll be going with the Golf Pride Tour Wrap grips. I have those on my woods and I just like them better. Plus I can get the whole set done for $30 at the local course.
Quality: -Absolute top quality from a family owned company who still believes in what they sell, instead of making a quick buck selling overseas junk. A definite sleeper. I guess they just don't have the "name" anymore.

Review Summary: -If a friend who has a newer set of TaylorMade CGB irons, is taking a second look at the Citations, that has to tell you something.
