On 2004-04-15, Uncle Chunk rated this Precept Lady Refinished a 4...(3379)

Purchase: I found this ball while looking for one of mine. Didn't find mine, so this one went into play. I was interested in trying it, as it had a logo on it saying: "Refinished by Golf Ball Zone.com" I had never played a "refurbished" ball and wanted to see how it played.
Pros: The Precept Lady is a solid ball. Long off the tee with a high launch angle. Spin into the green leaves a bit to be desired, but if you play for a little roll, its easy to get used to. The soft feeling of these balls is what their main selling point is. Silky smooth feel off the irons. This "Golf Ball Zone.com" ball was bright white, paint looked new, and most importantly, I couldn't tell it from new as far as performance. I played 17 holes with this ball and it came away with just one scuff.
Cons: With my game improving all the time, I am looking for a ball that will spin on approach shots, as well as being able to check it up with one hop and stop on my pitch and runs. This ball will not allow for such performance. But it was an early spring round and I didn't expect this level of performance from this ball anyway!
Quality: Good performance and durability to satisfy all mid to high level handicap players. The "refinishing" by Golf Ball Zone.com is not noticeable in any facet of cosmetics or performance.

Review Summary: The Precept Lady is a fine value-priced ball that can provide adequate performance for all but mid to low handicap players. The "refinishing" of this ball by Golf Ball Zone.com was imperceptable, save for the logo they place on their balls. It is a small logo and not too distracting. I checked the pricing on their web site and a dozen "A" grade (like new) are going for $14.99 (about $5.00 less than retail.) However, shipping is $5.95 for unlimited quantity. Not worth it unless you're ordering a slew of balls.
