On 2002-08-27, Rusty rated this Pro Select Tomahawk 23* Stainless Steel Utility Iron a 5...(471)

Purchase: I recently purchased the club at our local Big K-Mart from the individual club rack. It listed for $21.99 plus tax, so I was a little skeptical about the quality of the club, but liked the way it felt and wanted to try it. I needed something to improve my long to medium iron game. This club is lofted very close to a 4 iron.
Pros: The club just 'feels' right when you swing it. It makes solid contact without excessive effort. Depending on swing used, the club will produces shots of from 100 to 200 yards. I've never been able to hit a draw with any of my clubs except by mistake, but on first attempt at our local driving range, I hit shot after shot with a slight right to left arc. The TourFlex2, High Modulus Graphite, Regular flex bubble shaft lets me know where the club head is throughout the swing. I'm able to keep the head on line through the hitting area longer because of the feedback the club gives. I even like the grip that comes on the club. It has a soft, yet firm feel about it.
Cons: At the moment, I've found nothing that I don't like about the club except that it is harder for me to hit my standard fade with this club. It just wants to go straight at the target.
Quality: The club is very well made. It was assembled in Canada.

Review Summary: All in all...this is a club you might like to have in your bag if you are an infrequent golfer like me who has trouble with the long to medium irons. I 58 years old and have lost yardage off every club in my bag. The Tomahawk gives me the confidence to go after those medium distances again.
