On 2005-01-19, rookie golfer rated this RAM Tour Ti-Distance a 4...(4945)

Purchase: Purchased, on sale, from Sportchek, Canada - 36 balls for C$ 24.00. Thought for the cost that its an ideal ball for a beginner golfer.
Pros: Durability of ball has been surprising. Been striking these balls for about 2 seasons now and still have more than 24 unused. Only time I use a new one is when I lose one into a water hazard or reeds etc etc or when the loses its shine. surlyn cover seems to handle all sorts of strikes from clubs and course obstacles. since I'm not a long striker of the ball as yet, distance with these balls are not much shorter than those of the Top-Flite XL3000 or Titelist HVC, which I've tried. Maybe when my ball striking is longer I may switch to another ball but for now these Ram balls suit me fine. My playing partners are using XL 3000 or Nike or Titelist but the distance gain does not warrant the extra cost and besides there are often times when I out-drive them from the tee.
Cons: Probably the fact that the shine on the ball does wear off, although thats not in the first 18 holes. Only comes in one colour (white). I would like it if there were other colours as in the autumn when leaves are falling it can sometimes be hard to find.
Quality: Quality and construction appear to be of a fairly high quality when I look and compare them to other golf balls of equal or higher cost. The consistency of all the balls appears to be very high as well.

Review Summary: The Ram Ball I have found to be an excellent ball for the beginning golfer, or one who's looking for a cost effective ball, as its cost and durability far exceeds those of other similar or higher priced balls. The ball flies well and does not appear to have any vices with regard to construction or imbalance, holds up well to knocks from trees etc. when putting it seems to roll reasonably well and the high approach shots to the green seem to land and hold quite well. I would recommend these balls to any novice starting out. besides if you lose one or hit one into the drink you dont feel like you've lost a fortune.
