On 2007-07-09, matt \'im probably in the woods to the left\' clark rated this RAM FX5 Set a 4...(7842)
Details: I bought these after deciding that my game is at a point where i can buy a DECENT set. Not able to justify 400$+ the RAMS seemed like the the thing. I got the set at vernsoldgolfstore on ebay for 139, whole set, new. 3 woos (D, 3,5) and 3-PW. ive only hadthem at the range but thus far i like them plenty.now dont get me wrong, theyre not going to put you into the 70s out of the box(at least not me) but theyre pretty good for a boxed set. the short irons are forgiving, even crappy shots i was still a chip from the green(driving range remember), long irons(3-5) were consistent. i was reaching 190-210 with the 5 fairly regularly. now the woods. im terrible with drivers(especially 400cc and up) and this was no different, however, i did get a ahold of a few that sailed 250+ and pretty straight, so i need to figure out how to swing it. the FW woods were much more inspiring to hit than the driver, easily reaching 2-225 and fairly straight with the 3 off the turf. al in all, the clubs are nice and for the price i cant beat them yet
Purchase: vernsoldgolf store via ebay fantastic service.
Pros: i like the irons. pretty forgiving and good distance. hard to have a crappy shot(i manage though)
Cons: the grips. evidently all RAMS grips suck and i did notice. seemed slick. the driver sounds like an old school wood. a thwack more than a screaming ping. the driver seems difficult to hit, but again, this is the first real set ive ever had. also, no sand wedge, but im looking at the RAM wizard system.
Quality: so far so good. they look terrific, but chrome dont get you home. they feel good, but my basis of comparison is limited to Calcutta and Affinity. sorry
Review Summary: all in all, for 139+ shipping, i like them alot. i just need to learn them. im pretty much sold on the brand for my game.
