On 2004-05-15, Brett rated this STX Sync Tour - Black Insert a 4...(3649)

Purchase: I bought it used at Golfsmith for $59.00.
Pros: The club at first glance is very odd looking. Sort of like a blade putter with half a roll of quarters stuck to the back. But this, in my opinion, made the club very easy to line up. just aim the roll of quarters at the hole and/or your target and your set. It also has some sort of rubber insert on the face which generates a lot speed from a small stroke. This helped me alot. It is a a lot easier for me to take a short stroke and keep it online than it is to take a large one. It made me feel totally comfortable with any putt with in 15 feet. The weight is perfect... not as heavy as a mallet, but heavier than a standard putter. Also it comes with a very nice Winn grip...very comfortable.
Cons: It took a good while to adjust to this putter. The shaft is bent at a strange angle which can throw you off until you get used to it. Also it can be difficult to judge distance on putts longer than 30ft or so. Lastly, THIS IS NOT A FORGIVING PUTTER!!! Hits in the sweet spot are rewarded with solid rolls and good lines, but mishits are weak and will drift badly. I can hit it without too many problems. However, I have a very solid putting stroke. I don't mishit often at all.
Quality: The club is very well crafted with the finest components. Nothing bad to say here.

Review Summary: Bottom line... If you have a solid grooved putting game this putter will make you DEADLY, and I mean DEADLY, from anywhere within 20ft. It is sweet... However, if you have a inconsistant putting game or are looking for somthing forgiving...look elsewhere. This is not the club for you. I'd Rate this club a 5 if it were more forgiving, but it can be a tough club to play. I give it 4 of 5 because for me, it has drastically improved my putting. It is a great club.
