On 2007-06-21, ajc123 rated this Scotty Cameron Detour Newport 2 a 5...(7813)

Details: 35' long with factory Orange grip

Purchase: I bought this putter brand new on e-bay for around $230. The chain stores sell it for $300, but if check around on the net you can get it much cheaper.
Pros: I have a Scotty Cameron Newport Studio Style, Red X2, and Ping Anser 2 SS putter. This one is by far the best. I like having the 20g weight put farther back and imagining I am driving a nail through the ball while putting it. As with all Cameron putters, the balance is superior to anything else. The curve piece on this putter is not as pronounced as it is on the large mallet style Detour. I have made a couple putts from over 20 feet away when hitting it off the toe. This putter does a very good job of keeping putts online.
Cons: The orange grip and head cover is a bit much. The head cover more then anything, it screams 'steal me' to anyone who isn't color blind.
Quality: I am in steel manufacturing for a living. I have worked for years on mills and lathes which are used for making clubs such as this. Trust me, the detail work is well worth the money. The overall quality of this and all Cameron putters top notch. Bettinardi and Cameron putters are worth the money they command because the craftsmanship is superior to anything else out there.

Review Summary: After owning many Scotty Cameron putters, this one is my favorite. It allows you to have an off day and still feel confident over a putt. All you have to do is line up your ball, then line up the site line on the back of the putter with the ball, then line up your feet with both ball and putter. After that you know it will be straight, all that is left is distance to worry about.
